UNS – A total of 3.467 students from Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta are participating in the Student Community Service Program (KKN) for the July-August 2024 period. The symbolic send-off was conducted by the Acting Rector of UNS, Dr. Chatarina Muliana, S.H., S.E., M.H., in front of the UNS Rectorate Building on Tuesday (9/7/2024).

In his report, the Acting Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S., stated that the KKN program will run for 45 days, from July 9 to August 22, 2024. A total of 180 lecturers will accompany the students in implementing their work programs. Each student has been allocated a program fund of IDR 1.000.000, resulting in a total disbursement of IDR 3.467.000.000 for this period.

The KKN will take place in 351 villages, across 105 sub-districts, and 25 regencies in 7 provinces. In Central Java Province, the program will cover 13 regencies, 84 sub-districts, and 304 villages, involving 2.982 students. In Yogyakarta Special Region Province, it will cover 2 regencies, 3 sub-districts, and 7 villages, involving 68 students. In East Java Province, it will cover 4 regencies, 10 sub-districts, and 29 villages, involving 296 students. In Lampung Province, it will cover 1 regency, 1 sub-district, and 1 village, involving 14 students.

In West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, it will cover 2 regencies, 4 sub-districts, and 7 villages, involving 73 students. In Maluku Province, it will cover 1 regency, 1 sub-district, and 1 village, involving 5 students. In Southeast Sulawesi Province, it will cover 2 regencies, 2 sub-districts, and 2 villages, involving 29 students.

“A total of 121 themes will be realized in various work programs by 344 KKN groups from UNS for the July-August 2024 period,” Prof. Yunus said.

Prof. Yunus further explained that the paradigm of KKN is community empowerment. For 45 days, UNS students are required to live with society, encouraging their participation in empowering themselves.

By living in society, students can participate and contribute to development. Through partnerships with the community and local government, students will develop professionalism, empathy, and a sense of responsibility towards the environment. They will become individuals who quickly respond to the problems in society.

“Students will gain a good understanding of the village’s potential. They will be able to identify problems accurately and propose effective solutions,” Prof. Yunus added.

He also reported that the KKN course is now integrated with the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program. MBKM activities can be recognized as part of several courses, one of which is the KKN course. It is hoped that the KKN program will transform entirely into an activity integrated with MBKM.

“To all KKN students, we advise you to uphold the good name of our alma mater. Be agents of development and change, so that villages can become advanced and independent, and let society feel your presence,” Prof. Yunus concluded.
