UNS – A new rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho inaugurated 926 graduates on Saturday (04/27/2019). On this occasion 926 graduates took part in the second period of graduation ceremony in 2019. In addition, this graduation was the first time for the new rector, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, to join, after being appointed as UNS rector by the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education on 12 April.
In front of the graduates, Jamal expressed his happiness because he could attend and directly inaugurate 926 graduates. In addition, Jamal also expressed his gratitude to the parents/guardians of the graduates who have entrusted their children to study in UNS. In his remarks, Jamal said that at each graduation period there had been continuous improvements starting from the new student admission system to improvements in the quality of the learning system and curriculum.
These improvements were intended to answer the challenge regarding the changes and progress of science and technology that were very fast and dynamic. He reminded all UNS graduates, that the challenges faced today and in the future would be increasingly complex. The 4.0 industrial revolution was coming and the Indonesian Government has set ‘Indonesia’s 4.0 making roadmap’ as a strategy to reach the target of top 10 world economy in 2030.
In addition, Jamal emphasized that UNS graduates were able to become human resources who had the highest priority in preparing themselves as competitive, creative and innovative individuals. The skills would become turbines that were capable to drive economic growth.
In his report, the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S. said the number of the graduates were 926 graduates, 212 persons from Postgraduate level, consisting of 24 Doctoral Programs graduates and 188 Masters Programs graduates, then 17 persons from Professional Engineering Program, 23 Specialist Doctor of Education graduates, 624 Bachelor Program graduates, 3 Diploma IV Program graduates from the Faculty of Medicine, and 47 graduates from Diploma III Programs.
