ACADEMIC EDUCATION in UNS consists of undergraduate program, master program, and doctoral program.

Undergraduate Program is aimed at graduates with the qualifications of:

  1. mastering the basics of scientific and skills in a particular field of expertise, so they are able to find, understand, explain and formulate a way of solving problems which exist in their area of expertise;
  2. being able to apply their knowledge and skills in accordance with their personal expertise in productive and service activities for the community with good manners and behavior;
  3. being able to act and behave themselves in working in their specialized expertise as well as in their social lives;
  4. being able to keep pace with the development of their expertise science, technology, and/or art.

Magister Program is aimed at graduates with the qualifications of:

  1. possessing the ability to develop and update the science, technology and/or art by mastering and understanding, approaches, methods, conventions of science, accompanied by skills in applying their ability;
  2. possessing the ability to solve problems in their field of expertise through research and development based on scientific principles;
  3. possessing the ability to develop professional performance indicated by a profound analysis of problems, covered review, integrated solution to the problem or similar profession.

Doctoral Program is aimed at graduates with the qualifications of:

  1. possessing the ability to develop the concept of science, technology, and/or a new art in their field of expertise through research;
  2. possessing the ability to manage, lead, and develop research programs;
  3. possessing the ability to take an interdisciplinary approach in working in their field of expertise.

Diploma-3 Program is aimed at graduates who master the ability to work not only in routine but also in unfamiliar properties and contextual situations, in independent implementation of work and responsibility, and able to perform supervision and guidance based on the managerial skills they possess.

Diploma-4 Program is aimed at graduates who master the ability in performing complex works, with certain basic professional skills, including skills to plan and perform activities, to solve problems with independent responsibility in some degrees, to possess managerial skills, and to be able to keep pace with the developments of knowledge and technology in their expertise field.

PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION, consists of Medical Professional Education, Professional Medical Specialist Doctor 1, Professional Medical Specialist Doctor 2, Professional Accounting Education, Professional Teacher Education, and other equivalent professional educations.

Medical Professional Education is a professional education, which is the fourth level of education in the field of medical education after medical undergraduate education, which is aimed at graduates who possess the ability and competence as a doctor.

Professional Medical Specialist Education 1 is a professional education, which is the fifth level of education in the field of medical education. It is aimed at graduates who possess the skills and competencies skills/specialist in accordance with their field.

Professional Medical Specialist Education 2 is a professional education, which is the sixth level of education in the field of medical education. It is aimed at graduates who possess the abilities, skills, and sub-specialist competence.

Professional Accounting Education is an additional education at higher education after undergraduate Economics program in accounting courses, which is aimed at graduates who possess the skills and professional competence as an accountant.

Professional Teacher Education (PPG) is an educational program conducted to prepare education undergraduates as well as non-education undergraduates who have talents and interests in becoming a teacher to master the competencies of a teacher in accordance with the national standards of education, so that educators can earn professional certification in early childhood education, primary education, and secondary education, which is implemented based on the legal regulations.

About Credits and Study Period will be explained as follows:

Undergraduate program – at least 144 (one hundred forty-four) credits and maximum of 160 (one hundred and sixty) credits are scheduled for 8 (eight) semesters and can be completed in less than 8 (eight) semesters and maximum 14 (fourteen) semesters after completing secondary education.

Master degree program – at least 36 (thirty six) credits and maximum of 50 (fifty) credits are scheduled for 4 (four) semesters and can be completed in less than 4 (four) semesters and maximum 10 (ten) semester, including composing the thesis, after completing undergraduate program or any same level education.

Doctoral program – at least 40 (forty) credits with the study period of 4 (four) semesters and maximum 10 (ten) semesters for those who hold master degree (S2) at the same field; and at least 52 (fifty two) credits which can be taken within 5 (five) semesters and maximum 11 (eleven) semesters for those who hold master degree (S2) at different field.

Diploma 3 program – at least 110 (one hundred and ten) credits and maximum of 120 (one hundred and twenty) credits are scheduled for 6 semesters and maximum 10 (ten) semesters after completing secondary education.

Diploma 4 program – at least 144 (one hundred forty-four) credits and maximum of 160 (one hundred and sixty) credits are scheduled for 8 (eight) semesters and maximum 14 (fourteen) semesters after completing secondary education.

Professional Medical Education – at least 42 (forty-two) credits and maximum of 52 (fifty two) credits with a curriculum package for 3 (three) semesters and maximum 8 (eight) semesters after completing undergraduate medical education.

Professional Medical Specialist Education 1 – at least 36 (thirty six) credits and maximum of 50 (fifty) SKS with a curriculum package for 4 (four) semesters and the study period could take maximum 5 (five) semesters after completing undergraduate medical education/professional medical education.

Professional Medical Specialist Education 2 – at least 40 (forty) credits and maximum of 50 (fifty) SKS with a curriculum package for 4 (four) semesters and the study period could take maximum 6 (six) semesters after completing the professional medical specialist education 1 or master program.

Professional Accounting Education – at least 20 (twenty) credits and maximum of 40 (forty) credits with a curriculum package for 2 (two) semesters and the study period could take maximum 4 (four) semesters after completing undergraduate program.

Professional Teacher Education – at least 18 (eighteen) credits and maximum of 40 (forty) credits with a curriculum package and study period which is managed based on the legal regulations.

STUDY TIME LEAVE (Selang studi)

  • Students in Selang studi are students who discontinue following academic activities before the course, then returned following the academic activities with the permission of the rector due to the recommendation of the dean
  • A selang studi is not included in the calculation of study deadlines completion and can only be given for 2 (two) semesters.
  • During their studies, students are only allowed to take at most 4 (four) semesters of selang studi; 2 (two) semesters are not counted and 2 (two) other semesters with the calculated credit 0 (zero) credits.
  • Request for permission can only be proposed by the student after he/she has completed lecture for at least 2 (two) semesters.
  • Students who are in selang studi are required to pay the tuition fee only, without laboratory fees.
  • Students who return following the academic activities are given the opportunity to plan their studies in the semester with of at least 18 (eighteen) credit.
  • The guidance for the implementation of selang studi is further administered by the rector.
  • Selang studi provisions for students from diploma, masters, doctorate, and professional programs are managed in different provisions of the rector.

INACTIVE STUDENTS

  • Students who do not actively study was stopped following student academic activities outside of the provisions, and declared that taking courses for the semester with credit 0 (zero), and shall pay the fees and lab money.
  • Inactive students are students who discontinue following academic activities outside of the provisions, and take 0 (zero) credit for the semester.
  • Students who have left the academic activities for 5 (five) semesters are allowed to follow the academic activities back after a feasibility assessment in accordance with the relevant faculty rules, in a condition that the study time limit does not contradict the provisions.
  • The established provision is not applied for students who have not joined any academic activities since the first semester.
  • Students who discontinue following the academic activities for more than 5 (five) semesters are not allowed to follow the academic activities and considered dropping out (quitting) from the university.

Provisions for inactive students from diploma, master, and doctorate programs are regulated in distinct provisions.
