UNS — Proud achievement was made by students of the Architecture Study Program, Faculty of Engineering (FT) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta. Recently, the Semanggi Team from Architecture UNS won the Favorite National Competition ‘Instagram Reels: Ini Daerahku‘ organized by @tempodotco and @ptsmi_id.
The Architecture team consists of B.R.M. Bre Kumara, Dhiyaa Nazmi A., Nabil Fikri Hakim, Rachel Regina A.M., and Yulia Fernanda. Rachel Regina explained that they introduced the video with the concept of socio-economic impact on society.
“The concept that we present is to specifically show the feelings of the residents of Kampung Mojo after receiving revitalization of the village since 2017. Remembering the theme and concept of this competition emphasizes the social and economic impact of its residents, we want to introduce one of the villages that is our course project, namely Kampung Kota with a green environment theme,” Rachel said as quoted from ft.uns.ac.id, Friday (5/5/2023).
Rachel and her team said they were very happy to win this competition. Through this video work, they want to show the wider community that a village in Surakarta, which was previously a slum, can be even better with revitalization assistance from the government.
“At first we didn’t expect too much, but it turns out we won the championship,” she added.
The fourth semester students hope that through this video, they can further introduce the community to the changes in Kampung Mojo RW 01. Furthermore, they hope that Kampung Mojo RW 01 can become an example of the positive impact of village development on the community.
This activity was part of a small assignment in the Kampung Kota course, Architecture Study Program, FT UNS, which was managed by Dr. Eng. Kusumaningdyah N.H and Anita Dianingrum, S.T. “Going to the field is a mandatory activity for students, so they can make observations and even interact with residents. This activity aims to be able to jointly learn from residents, look in detail, make mapping, and even find simple solutions to environmental and spatial problems in Kampung Kota that are faced by residents,” Dr. Eng. Kusumaningdyah N.H explained.
While Anita Dianingrum, S.T. said that the students participation in this competition was actually part of the documentation of the ‘Ngampung’ activity, coincidentally with this competition they were able to wrap up the concept of video reels. The challenge was that they were asked to make short and concise documentation, but the video could convey the message clearly in a short duration.
Besides Rachel’s team, the Architecture Study Program UNS also fielded a team interested in water issues in the Kampung Kota settlement environment. They consisted of Agung Tri S., Dewi Ayuni A.D., Grace Angelica N., Rifano Visby A., Valent Akira S., and Yandua Figo R. H. Even though they did not win this competition, they have mapped out what the Kampung Kota HP 00001 residents are trying to do in the supply of clean water. Humas UNS
