UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta becomes the best home in raising its student’s interests and talents. Nabila Balina becomes one of them. She is a law student that interests in volleyball sport. Her talent in volleyball is not only a fun or hobby, but also a way to get many achievements that brings UNS nationally.
The Student Volunteer League 2017 organized by the UNS Volleyball Student Unites became her first national game. Nabila is the youngest athlete in her team who is not majoring sports study program. In the competition, with a very short training time, Nabila is able to bring her team out as champions.
“For Livoma game, the training was only two days because my team and I had previously also been trained and we also often played volleyball together. It is important for every team member to create a solid team,” Nabila explained.
The incision of her achievements continues until Nabila was appointed as a female team member of Central Java team at the National Student Sports Week (POMNAS) 2017 which took place in Makassar, South Sulawesi. POMNAS is an annual national inter-provincial sport event for undergraduate and diploma students in Indonesia
“After Livoma yesterday, six players (including herself) from the UNS team joined the Central Java team to represent Central Java in POMNAS championship,” Nabila said
As the host of Livoma 2018 that will be held in September, Nabila and UNS team hope that they can continue to maintain the championship trophy and re-enter as a team of Central Java in POMNAS 2018.
Nabila had a dream to become one of the national athletes who will bring Indonesia in the international area. However, as a student she realized that her main task was to study and graduate from UNS with a glorious grade.
“My parents and I put my education first. It is because knowledge can be useful until my old age. If I’m 40 years old, I will not as energetic as now to play volleyball. So, for me, education and volleyball should be balanced, but education remains my number one priority,” said Nabila.
Nabila does not only put her attention on volleyball as her hobby as pleasure, but she also puts education as her main priority.
