UNS – The Special Education Program (PLB) at the Faculty of Education (FKIP), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, launched a priority lift for students with disabilities. The launch took place offline at the FKIP UNS Building E.

The inauguration event was opened by the Dean of FKIP UNS, Prof. Dr. Mardiyana, M.Si. This event was organized with several activities and was attended by all faculty members of the program located in Building E of FKIP UNS, as well as representatives of students with disabilities. The first part of the event began with a speech by Prof. Mardiyana regarding the purpose of establishing the priority lift.

“The main purpose of building this lift is to facilitate students with special needs. Additionally, it is also a step towards enhancing the facilities at FKIP,” Prof. Mardiyana said during the event held on Friday (8/3/2024).

The construction of this priority lift is aimed not only to facilitate students with special needs at FKIP UNS but also for all students, faculty, and staff who require the lift, especially those in Building E of FKIP UNS. The construction of this lift is not solely for project purposes because it was built to provide the best facilities at FKIP UNS.

The management of the lift built in Building E of FKIP UNS is under the auspices of the PLB Program. This is due to the significant number of PLB students with special needs. Additionally, it aims to enhance the competence of the PLB Program and FKIP in supporting inclusive education programs and providing facilities for all students with disabilities.

After the speeches, the event continued with a ribbon-cutting ceremony conducted by Prof. Mardiyana, accompanied by the head of the PLB Program and faculty members from the PLB Program. Subsequently, after the ribbon-cutting, Prof. Mardiyana and several representatives of students with disabilities tested the functionality of the lift. Once it was confirmed that the lift could be used properly, Prof. Mardiyana expressed hope that the lift would be utilized effectively.

“I express my gratitude to the PLB Program and all programs located in Building E. The construction of the lift is now underway and should be optimized as much as possible. In the future, the lift can be designated for all students and at-risk faculty members, while those who feel healthy can use the stairs,” Prof. Mardiyana hoped. HUMAS UNS
