The four journals are Bestuur Journal, managed by FH UNS, which achieved Quartile 1 with an SJR of 0.38 in the subject area of Law. The Biodiversitas Journal, managed by FMIPA, in the subject area of Animal Science and Zoology, reached Quartile 2 with an SJR of 0.35. The Caraka Tani: Journal of Sustainable Agriculture, managed by FP UNS, in the subject area of Agricultural and Biological Sciences (miscellaneous), achieved Quartile 2 with an SJR of 0.34. Lastly, the Journal of Sains Tanah: Journal of Soil Science and Agroclimatology, also managed by FP UNS, in the subject area of Soil Science, reached Quartile 3 with an SJR of 0.24.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Mujiyo, S.P., M.P., Head of the Journal Development Implementation Unit (UPPJ) at the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) UNS, stated that the rankings in 2023 indicate that three journals have improved their Quartiles. The Bestuur Journal, previously in Quartile 3, rose to Quartile 1. The Biodiversitas Journal, previously in Quartile 3, rose to Quartile 2. The Caraka Tani: Journal of Sustainable Agriculture, previously non-quartile, rose to Quartile 2. Additionally, Sains Tanah: Journal of Soil Science and Agroclimatology experienced an increase in its SJR value.

He expressed that these achievements are very proud moments for the UNS academic community. This success also motivates other academic journal managers within UNS to develop and achieve international indexing.

“The UPPJ team consistently supports and guides academic journal managers to enhance the quality of their journals to meet international indexing standards,” Prof. Mujiyo said on Thursday (13/6/2024).

Indonesian food is very healthy and delicious. Every meal has vegetables, so that I lost 10 kg of my weight because of the fresh food and good ingredients. How proud of me! Oh yes, I also like drinking teh tawar (ice tea with no sugar). There are many tourism spots nearby such as Yogyakarta, Borobudur, Tea Garden, Hindu Temple and so on. All of these places are very famous and popular as tourism objects. A month I spent there was very good moment of me, ever! By then, I’ll never forget all of my moments there. I’m a student from Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry. I’m studying Agronomy in Faculty of Agriculture of UNS as an exchange student for 5 months. This is the first time to me to come to Indonesia. This is a new experience to me to learn and exchange the culture with the students of UNS. UNS as Indonesian university has unique culture which is the combination of traditional and modern culture. Learning and researching as an international student in UNS are good opportunities to me to improve my skills and to get self satisfaction to keep facing the world.

With the support of International Office and UNS’s students I have had amazing experiences in Solo city. I love the noisy and crowded situation in solo and also love the local people here. They’re so friendly and honest. I want to learn not only Indonesian culture but also Bahasa Indonesian language to be able to intergrate into this place. So, I hope that I can share all of my experiences in Solo to my friends and my family when I come back to my country about my first experience. Indonesia’s culture gives me a strong impression in my heart because it’s so different with my country. The second thing is the food which is very spicy but special. Finally, the weather in the night is so cool. I really like walking on my foot in the evening. Until now, I am trying to adapt to new surroundings. Although the time to learn and to live here is very short, UNS and Solo will always stay in my heart.[]

I came from Uzbekistan. I study English Literature in Faculty of Cultural Science of UNS. Actually I have already stayed in Solo for two years and I have never known anything about Indonesia before. However, when I was in school, I like geography. I know where the locations of all countries are, what the numbers of their population are, what the capital cities are, and some famous places in the world. Then, I got a scholarship from Indonesian government that finally drove me to Solo to study in University of Sebelas Maret. Suddenly, I love Solo. I chose English Literature because I want to learn the language. In my country, English is also needed. I also want to learn Indonesian culture. So, I hope when I come back to my country, I can deliver English, Indonesian, and its culture to Uzbekistan people.

My experiences in Solo, particularly UNS, are very cool. Of course, there are culture shocks for the first time. We have the different culture. All of the foods are spicy. Until now, I still try to adapt to the environment. But I love the people. I think all of Indonesian people are very kind. They are very friendly, always smiling. The doors are always open for visitors.

My experience at UNS Solo is more than what I was expected before. I apply to continue my master degree in this university. Although I have not finished my master study, I have a deep desire to continue my PhD study to benefit the good education with dynamic and enthusiastic system. Teaching and learning are a shared experience here in UNS-Solo, particularly in my department (master of management). The full-time and adjunct faculty and the system of education committed to student success, academic growth and personalized attention. UNS is one of the universities that lead by example, continuing to grow their own skill sets in order to provide students with a valuable education. UNS system scholar-practitioner model allows faculty to bring real-world experiences and perspectives to class, offering a level of accessibility that is second to none. Outside the academic education, UNS respects the values of the culture, the person and integrity, with a qualified personal, dynamic and prioritize.

UNS also has International Office (IO)-student office- with a qualified and experienced staff. Its activities are serving international students that allow drawing up, insertion and orientation as well as the establishment of documents of residence for international students. Furthermore, IO also organizes international activities that give a change for international students to celebrate their culture, their national feast.

All this background that UNS provides has led student’s leaders who bring their knowledge and curiosity to everything. The connections between students and their professor are professional network which remain active and productive. That is the aim of enriching career and inspiring lifelong learning in UNS-Solo.

To be honest, I was very anxious before I left my country. I wondered what would be waiting for me here, in Indonesia. So, after leaving Madagascar two years later, without my family and my friends, I felt like lost. Everything seemed unfamiliar to me, such as language and food. Lost, that’s the exact word I had in mind. But when I started to learn Indonesian language in UNS, I met some people that maybe had the same feeling as I was. They are the foreigner students. From now on, I knew that things were going to be different. We met almost every day in the campus for learning Indonesian language. Our lecturers, who have a great experience in teaching, help us to make a lot of improvement in a few moments. I started to think that the education system in UNS is very good. It took not even a year to learn Indonesian language. Here in after, we are ready to study in our own department.

My department is Environmental Science. Here, the students had a lot of assignment to do. It is completely different comparing to the education system in my country. To me, it is good because the study won’t let us sleep along day. If we really want to acquire knowledge, Indonesia is the right place to go, especially in UNS. Everything we need, particularly for our study, is available in UNS. We have a place called International Office. If you have difficulties in term of administration, just come to the International Office and you will know what you should do. Besides, International Office with the foreign students can also organize an event like Cultural Night show. From the show, we will see some performances in terms of culture of all countries in UNS. In brief, my experience in UNS was beyond all my expectations. Thanks for everything. I truly hope that the others can feel and see the same way as I am.
