UNS — Since launched last year, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) took great efforts to realize the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program in Indonesia. Since then, the program has implemented its activities one by one. Now, the certified internship and independent study are ready to follow other activities launched previously.
Regarding these new tracks, the Chief of Microcredential (Certified Internship and Independent Studies), Nurhadi Irbath, stated that 20,000 opportunities are open for all university students in Indonesia. These opportunities were opened specially for university students to apply their knowledge in professional settings.
“There are more than 600 Big Corporations that offer these opportunities. So, do not waste these opportunities,” Nurhadi stated in the Workshop on Improving the Type of Internship and Independent Study Services in Kampus Merdeka Program, Tuesday (22/6/2021).
In the event held by the Career Development Center (CDC) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Nurhadi also explained the differences between a certified internship and independent studies. Certified internship, he explained, is a program that offers an opportunity for students to develop themselves outside the campus learning process and participate directly in industry or professional settings. Independent studies are an in-class learning process designed to encourage students to solve real challenges faced by the industries through courses, Bootcamp, or Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC).
Through certified internships or independent studies, students are expected to develop clear views on the workplace world and ready to build their careers after graduating. Students who take these programs will spend 1—2 semesters in a company or partners that equal 20—40 sks (credits).
Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS, Prof. Ahmad Yunus, stated that UNS fully supports these programs. he considers both programs as very useful for students. “This internship program is beneficial because besides improving competence, students also could participate in solving industrial problems,” he added.
Prof. Yunus also mentioned that UNS targeted 3,000 students to be involved in these Kampus Merdeka programs this year. Further information and registration can be accessed in kampusmerdeka.kemdikbud.go.id. website. Don’t miss these opportunities! Humas UNS
