UNS — The Directorate of Innovation and Downstreaming Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held UNS Innovation Festival on 10-14 December 2021 offline in The Royal Surakarta Heritage and G.P.H. Haryo Mataram Auditorium UNS.
UNS, through UNS Innovation Hub, collaborated with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), Ministry of Trade (Kemendag), Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos), Kedaireka, Indonesia Direct, and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Solo Raya in holding this festival.
In an interview with uns.ac.id, Catur Sugiarto, Ph.D., the chairman of the managing committee, stated that UNS Innovation Festival has a series of events: business exposition, business matching, startup graduation, export apps launching, workshop, talk show, fashion show, and business gathering.
“On 10—12 (it was) held in Royal Heritage, there will be a workshop on export and export financing. The next day, there is a workshop and business matching that will bring together vendors and MSMEs with purchasers from Australia. This aims to introduce what products are here, and hopefully, it will be followed with a transaction from this business matching,” Catur stated on Thursday (9/12/2021).
He added that the event then developed into an expo in G.P.H. Haryo Mataram Auditorium UNS on 13—14 December 2021 that will exhibit various innovative products. Around 35 startups from UNS and 90 MSMEs in Solo Raya will exhibit their products there. The UNS startups will show their products after six months incubation period with UNS Innovation Hub.
On the last day and the peak of the festival, there will be a general lecture with the Minister of Parekraf, Sandiaga Uno. Followed by a distribution of Decision Letter (SK) Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) for UMKM that will be established as LC with a legal entity.
“This is one of the outputs from project matching fund UNS with Kemenparekraf that was held in five cities Semarang, Cirebon, Bandung, Banyuwangi, and Surabaya. One hundred and thirty-five MSMEs were selected from the project to be established as LC. It will be held concurrently with the distribution of intellectual Property Rights (HAKI) (certificate),” Catur added.
Catur hoped that the festival could become a momentum to promote innovation in downstreaming and commercialization of findings from UNS academic members. He also hoped that research and innovation findings from UNS academic members could be used, purchased, and utilized to their best of purposes by the community.
“Hopefully, this momentum also spread a good influence on the entrepreneurship world. Therefore, students who have not thought about building a startup, business, or innovation could be inspired to start,” he hoped. Humas UNS
