UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta expand the opportunity to study in the Pancasila Stronghold campus by opening the second batch for the international class at the undergraduate level academic year of 2021/2022. UNS the international class is opened for Undergraduate Program in Accounting and Undergraduate Program in Development Economics Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB). The program is opened under a collaboration with Curtin University Perth Australia.

The curriculum of the international class is almost similar to the regular class, except that the learning process will be delivered fully in English. Students also have an opportunity to participate in student exchange, summer courses, double degree programs, visiting professors, and other international events. “Students will gain international level education experience and recognition,” the Head of Accounting Program FEB UNS, Agung Nur Probohudono, Ph.D., explained.

Despite its name, the class will not become an exclusive class, and students will be encouraged to maintain their local characters through local wisdom jargon. “Such as memayu hayuning bawana, urip hanguripi, that can be implemented by students in this international class,” Agung Nur Probohudono emphasized.

The Head of Development Economics Program FEB UNS, Bhimo Rizky Samudro, Ph.D., also added that the selection aspects for the International Class include academic potential, English proficiency, and characters. “We did not require certain TOEFL or IELTS scores in the release. We want that students who passed this selection are not limited to those with good English proficiency, but also those with high academic ability and character. With this concept, we hope to get good students’ input,” Bhimo explained.

Bhimo added that students admitted to this program would have an opportunity to apply for UNDP incentives for those who are interested in SDGs and SMEs studies. The Head of Development Economic Program also stated that the first batch would get the best learning experience delivered through a high-quality control to ensure student’s and parent’s satisfactory results. “In the future, the international class will be reformatted to allow international students to join the class,” he concluded.

For the academic year of 2020/2021, each program will only admit 25 students for each program. The requirements that prospective students must fulfill are: Indonesian citizen, graduated from Senior High School or its equivalent (SMA/MA/SMK) for no later than the last three years, and have good health conditions that will not hamper the learning process. Prospective students must register as a participant in UNS standalone admission. Prospective students must have UTBK Score 2021 issued by LTMPT 2021, English proficiency score (TOEFL/IELTS), and participate in the interview process. The application for the second batch is open on 19-24 July 2021, an interview on 28 July 2021, and an announcement on 30 July 2021. Further information can be accessed at https://spmb.uns.ac.id.
