UNS — The Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta shares batik dress to the cleaning service in UNS campus area. This activity is to commemorate National Batik Day. The distribution is carried out simultaneously in 11 Faculties, 2 Schools, and units in UNS, Monday (4/10/2021).
During a symbolic hand-over at the Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB), the UNS Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Ahmad Yunus, states that the distribution aims to preserve batik in the community.
“Last week, there was an International Webinar organized by the Center for the Mandarin Language. Of course, this can also be one of the methods to introduce batik to the international community. Hopefully, the batik we shared through this event can be beneficial to the recipients,” he states in his speech.
He added that the event was held in conjunction with the National Batik Day Commemoration in UNS to enhance the values. Through a short preparation, finally, the clothes collection and distribution process can run smoothly.
Further, the Dean of FIB UNS, Prof. Warto, considers this event as a meaningful activity.
“We in FIB UNS highly appreciate and welcome this action. It is an incredible day, starting at 07.30 with the morning meeting, followed with lecture schedules, and lastly, distributing the batik dress,” said Prof. Warto.
Meanwhile, one of the cleaning services, Aris, admitted that he was very happy with the distribution of batik dresses.
Other than attending the division of batik in the Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB), Prof. Yunus was also attending similar distribution in the Faculty of Engineering (FT), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), and the Faculty of Medicine (FK). Each faculty or unit can distribute up to 50 batik dresses to the cleaning services in the faculty or unit. Humas UNS
