UNS – The Research Group Grant Community Service Team (PKM-HGR) from the Faculty of Arts and Design (FSRD) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a socialization activity regarding the Jogo Kali #2 Eco-art Festival Program. The activity was held offline in Bandongan District, Magelang Regency, Central Java Province on Sunday (8/5/2023).
Carrying the title “Empowerment of Jogo Kali Eco-art through the Bandongan Magelang Artist Community Network”, the community service team was chaired by Prof. Dr. Agus Purwantoro, M.Sn. The members of the team consist of Prof. Dr. Narsen Afatara, M.S., Dyah Yuni Kurniawati, S.Sn., M.Sn., and Muhammad Firdaus Faishol, S.Pd., M.Sn.
In the press release received by the uns.ac.id team on Monday (8/5/2023), it was stated that the Head of the Service Team, Prof. Dr. Agus Purwantoro, M.Sn explained that the implementation of the “Jogo Kali” #1 Eco-art program agenda in 2022, had received an enthusiastic and positive response from several environmental activist communities.
“Therefore, the Jogo Kali Eco-art Festival was held again as an output of research and development of creative eco-art forms (art exploration) from the Wayang Godhong Esc Community in collaboration with various artists, stakeholders, to become a joint community, namely Jogo Kali as the driving force for environmental education.” Prof. Agus said.
Prof. Agus continued on the follow-up agenda of the Jogo Kali #2 Eco-art Festival, saying that making art would involve a larger community network that had already been formed. This was intended to expand the activities of the Jogo Kali community into works of art, dance, and literature.
“As a form of art exploration in this annual art agenda, various art communities and environmental activists who are included in research and service programs will receive assistance from art activists within UNS. This is so that we can collaborate with the community to create art works that use eco-art principles and novel ideas,” Prof. Agus added.
This research was the first year of research as a continuation of the theme of conservation and the environment, especially for watersheds from the development of Wayang Godhong art creation.
“In this case, Wayang Godhong is still a medium for the art development of activities with the community that will partner with village youth organizations and other communities. Moreover this is in accordance with the main theme of research and development UNS for the 2011-2025 period, namely strengthening local excellence for domestic glory and strengthening global impact (from local excellence to domestic and global impact),” Prof. Agus concluded.
