UNS — The Alumni Association (IKA) of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held Wedangan IKA UNS series 103, initiated by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum. The event aims to gather all UNS alumni and build partnerships amid the pandemic by discussing current topics. This Wedangan IKA UNS discussed “Welcome New Faculties in UNS” and was held through Zoom Meeting and live broadcasted through the UNS YouTube channel on Wednesday evening (6/4/2022).
UNS opened two new faculties on 11 March 2022, the Faculty of Psychology and Faculty of Informatics and Data Science, which previously were offered as undergraduate programs in UNS. In his opening remark, Prof. Jamal mentioned that these two faculties were established based on several considerations.
“First, because of the high interest in two programs. Second, the two programs have unquestionable quality, good accreditation, leading human resources and curriculum quality, and other qualities. Therefore, these two programs were recommended as new faculties,” Prof. Jamal stated.
Representing the Chairman of IKA UNS, the Director-General (Dirjen) of Citizenship and Civil Registration (Dukcapil), Prof. Dr. Zudan Arif Fakrulloh, S.H., M.H., congratulated UNS for the opening of two faculties.
“The two new faculties in UNS could strengthen and build UNS glory. As alumni, we welcome (the two faculties) with pride and gratefulness for the two new faculties that are truly needed by the community,” Prof. Zudan stated in his opening remark.
He added that the development of civilization needs support from diverse professions and expertise. Thus, the presence of the Faculty of Psychology and Faculty of Informatics and Data Science could grow together with the development of information technology. He also emphasized that the job markets for both faculties are growing.
“The alumni support and will help,” he added. “Especially in strengthening UNS in Indonesia in all rooms that need UNS’ contribution. Alumni are ready to help in reaching that,” Prof. Zudan concluded. Humas UNS
