UNS — The Constitution Speech Competition for Village Chiefs in Solo Raya initiated by the Faculty of Law (FH) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta and Constitutional Court (MK) is officially closed. The closing ceremony was held along with the announcement of the winner. The final round and closing ceremony invited five Village Chiefs to the G.P.H. Haryo Mataram UNS Auditorium on Saturday (4/12/2021).
In the final round was attended by the Chairman of MK, Dr. Anwar Usman; Vice-Chairman of MK, Prof. Dr. Aswanto; Secretary General of MK, Prof. Dr. M. Guntur Hamzah; Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho; Dean of FH UNS, Prof. I Gusti Ayu Ketut Rachmi Handayani; Vice-Mayor of Surakarta, Drs. Teguh Prakosa; and Karanganyar Regent, Drs. Juliyatmono, M.M.
In his remark, Prof. Jamal expressed his happiness that the speech competition ran well.
“This proven that UNS is deemed worthy of being the driving force in socializing and spreading the values and norms of the state constitution that must be upheld by all walks of life,” Prof. Jamal stated.
The Secretary-General of MK, Prof. Guntur Hamzah, stated that there were 275 Village Chiefs who participated and sent a video for the competition, which was followed by election and assessment were performed to select five finalists in the semifinal round.
“A day before the final, yesterday, all finalists received materials on the issues regarding Pancasila and constitution. The material was delivered directly by Prof. Aswanto and Prof. Arief Hidayat. We thanked all participants and UNS as an initiator. Insyaallah, we will continue again at Central Java and even the national level,” Prof. Guntur mentioned in his remark.
Vice-Mayor of Surakarta, Teguh Prakosa, reminded the participants that the competition is not solely to gain reward but also how the participants apply their idea in leading their region.
Vice-Chairman of MK, Prof. Aswanto, also hoped that all participants could learn the important points in this event. Hopefully, at least after this competition, there will be an improvement in constitutional knowledge at the first level of government.
“We are sure that as the front line, (the participants) need to follow the development. To maximize the services, (you) need to follow consolidation, both in literacy and knowledge,” he stated.
Following the opening remark, five finalists delivered their oration for 10 minutes. The finalists are Slamet Wiyono, Blulukan Village Chief, Colomadu, Karanganyar District; Tri Prasetyo Utomo, Srimulyo Village Chief, Gondang, Sragen District; Ardita Devi Mayasari, Pulisen Village Chief, Boyolali, Boyolali District; Martantyo Didik Purnomo, Tawangsari Village Chief, Karanganyar District; and Suparmanto, Slogoretno Village Chief, Jatipurno, Wonogiri District.
