UNS – The Board of Trustees (Majelis Wali Amanat, or MWA) of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta for the 2024-2029 period has officially been formed. This is in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Mendikbudristek) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) Number 26871/M/06/2024 regarding the Appointment of Members of the MWA UNS for the 2024-2029 Period dated March 18, 2024.
In the decree, the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology appointed 17 members of the MWA UNS. Among them are the Indonesian Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Ex-Officio), the Rector of UNS (Ex-Officio), the Chairperson of the Academic Senate (Ex-Officio), Prof. Muliaman Darmansyah Hadad, Ph.D. (community representative), Prof. Bahrullah Akbar, M.B.A. (community representative), Commissioner General (Pol) Sutanto (community representative), Ayu Kartika Dewi, S.E., M.B.A. (community representative), Prof. Dr. Yunastiti Purwaningsih (Academic Senate representative), Prof. Dr. Eng. Syamsul Hadi (Academic Senate representative), Prof. Okid Parama Astirin, M.S. (Academic Senate representative), Prof. Dr. Ir. Suminah, M.Si. (Academic Senate representative), Prof. Riyadi Santosa, M.Ed., Ph.D. (Academic Senate representative), Prof. Dr. Mohammad Furqon Hidayatullah (Academic Senate representative), Prof. Dr. Ari Natalia Probandari, Ph.D. (Academic Senate representative), Ir. Budi Harto, M.M., M.Psi. (alumni representative), Hermawan Rudhianto, S.E., M.Si. (education staff representative), and Ahmad Brian Anggoro (student representative).
After its official formation, all members of the MWA UNS held a coordination meeting for two days on Wednesday (20/3/2024) and Thursday (21/3/2024) to establish the organizational structure of the MWA UNS. During the coordination meeting, Prof. Muliaman Darmansyah Hadad, Ph.D., who represents the community, was elected as the Chairperson of the MWA UNS. Subsequently, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Furqon Hidayatullah was elected as the Vice Chairperson of the MWA UNS, and Prof. Dr. Eng. Syamsul Hadi was elected as the Secretary of the MWA UNS.
Prof. Muliaman Darmansyah Hadad, Ph.D., the Chairperson of the MWA UNS, stated that the members of the MWA UNS come from various backgrounds, including representatives from the community, alumni, the Academic Senate, education staff, and students. “After the Minister’s decree was issued, we held a coordination meeting to establish the structure of the MWA UNS. I (Prof. Muliaman Darmansyah Hadad) was elected as the Chairperson, with Prof. Mohammad Furqon Hidayatullah from the Academic Senate, who is also a professor at the Faculty of Sports Sciences (FKOR), elected as the Vice Chairperson, and Prof. Syamsul Hadi from the Academic Senate, who is also a professor at the Faculty of Engineering (FT), elected as the Secretary,” Prof. Muliaman explained on Thursday (21/3/2024).
Prof. Muliaman expressed hope that the MWA UNS for the 2024-2029 period would work effectively. “Because we have a significant task, one of which, is preparing for the election of the UNS Rector. We cannot provide detailed schedules and activities for the UNS Rector election process today because the team is still preparing them. When the time comes, we will announce the detailed schedule of the UNS Rector election process,” Prof. Muliaman, who also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) Tbk added.
Prof. Muliaman added that the stages of the UNS Rector election process are expected to begin in early April, with the new UNS Rector planned to be elected in June-July.
Meanwhile, representing the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), the Director-General of Directorate of Science and Technology of Mendikbudristek RI, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris, M.Sc., congratulated the formation of the MWA UNS for the 2024-2029 period. From the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of RI, it is hoped that the process of selecting the new UNS Rector will proceed smoothly. “May the MWA UNS work swiftly so that the new UNS Rector can be elected soon. And, of course, all selection processes must comply with applicable regulations and legislation,” Prof. Abdul Haris said.
