UNS — Wedangan Ikatan Keluarga Alumni (IKA) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta Series-66 discussed the “Entrepreneurial Stage for Faculty of Cultural Studies Graduates”. The Wedangan was held through the Zoom Cloud Meeting. The Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs UNS, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Sajidan. M.Si., stated that the entrepreneurship theme is in line with the program from UNS Rector in achieving the Key Performance Indicators (IKU).
“It is related to IKU 6, collaboration with business, industry, and workplace. MoU and MoE as an umbrella for students who want to have an internship, industrial practice, learning entrepreneurship, and other specific programs. It is expected to enrich their competency in their study,” Prof. Sajidan explained on Wednesday (14/7/2021).
Prof. Sajidan also explained IKU 2 on student’s experiences from outside the campus. Through Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka Program (MBKM), students could get support for internships. Wedangan IKA that discussed entrepreneurship topic also contributes to the implementation of MBKM.
Responding to this matter, the Chairman of IKA UNS, Ir. Budi Harto, M.M., stated the uniqueness of this wedangan that invited graduates who are successful in entrepreneurship outside their focus study in the university. “It gives inspiration—many choices in the community. Besides striving for the profession that is in line with their disciplines, other professions are open,” Ir. Budi Harto explained.
The IKA Chairman also added that education does not stop with their knowledge but also includes growing up and equip every graduate to be successful in the community. The Wedangan IKA UNS also aims to answer the employability issues for Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB) UNS graduates, as mentioned by the Dean of FIB, Prof. Dr. Warto, M.Hum. Supported with the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Program, students were expected to be able to face challenges in the community.
“It is fascinating to invite alumni who are successful in being entrepreneurs. We will learn a lot and hope their knowledge is transferred to us,” Prof. Warto stated. “Students (are expected) to be not only strong in theory but also be adaptive with the disruption,” he added.
FIB UNS alumni who attended that shared their entrepreneurial experiences are Drs. Paseh Mawardi, teak seed entrepreneur; Drs. Popo Wasiatno, the owner of soybean company; Dra. Adhi Teleng Lanasari, Javanese Alphabet shirt entrepreneur; and Jumali J. Perwito, furniture entrepreneur. The inspirative stories from these alumni are expected to provide entrepreneurial insights, especially for FIB UNS academic members. This expectation was shared by the Chairman of Alumni Association (KA) FIB UNS, Dra. Dwi Hastuti, represented by her vice-chairman, Agus H.K. Soetomo. Humas UNS
