UNS — Visual Communication Design (DKV) Program Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta explore the probability of a collaboration with DKV Program FSRD Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Surakarta. This process is confirmed with the Head of DKV Program FSRD UNS, Andreas S. Widodo, S.Sn., M.Hum to uns.ac.id, Friday (5/2/2021).
Opening the exploration of collaboration between the two programs, the Head of DKV Program FSRD UNS Andreas S. Widodo, S.Sn., M.Hum visited FSRD ISI Surakarta Campus, Mojosongo. In his visit, Andreas S. Widodo, S.Sn., M.Hum was welcomed by the Vice Dean I FSRD ISI Surakarta, Much. Sofwan Zarkasi, S.Sn., M.Sn and the Head of DKV Program FSRD ISI Surakarta, Asmoro Nurhadi Panindias, S.Sn., M.Sn in the Meeting Room 2nd floor Building V.
He stated that the collaboration established with the DKV Program FSRD ISI aims to implement the Merdeka Belajar and Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Program promoted by the Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) RI, Nadiem Makarim. “This collaboration needs an open academic system for the implementation of MBKM, namely 20 Semester Credits for student exchange,” Andreas explained.
He explained that his party coordinates the open academic system because both DKV Program FSRD in UNS and ISI Surakarta still use the closed academic system and only serve internal campus needs. This partnership will take the form of collaboration as both institutes have their distinct characteristics in art.
“The culture built by each university is different. ISI Surakarta builds a culture in a strong art community, while UNS builds a culture in a cross-disciplines community,” he explained.
When asked about the exploration of collaboration, he mentioned five topics discussed, the plan for recognition system for the result of student exchange, adjusting Semester Credit system, and the uniqueness/specification of certain courses, assessment, and teaching process.
Andreas specifically hopes that through exploration with DKV Program FSRD ISI Surakarta will bring good collaboration in building Higher Education Tri Dharma in art and design. “Together contributes to advancing the design education in Indonesia,” he concluded. Humas UNS
