UNS — Alumni Association (IKA) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta never stop contributing to the community during the Covid-19 pandemic. Their contribution is implemented by distributing face masks to the financially disadvantaged community, financial aids for people going through self-quarantine, and provides two free ambulances for hearses.

The Chairman of IKA UNS Care for Pandemic Ir. Heri Sosiawan, M.M, in the official release, stated that the contribution provided by UNS alumni from various backgrounds targeted people from the upstream to the downstream. This strategy includes providing education on the dangers of SARS-CoV-2 infection and delivering assistance for people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We are moved to create ‘IKA UNS Peduli Pandemi Covid-19’. In the upstream, IKA UNS socialize the comprehension and awareness on 6M and educating the community on the importance of testing, tracing, and treatment or 3T,” Ir. Heri Sosiawan, M.M., stated.

He added that the socialization was held through banners, brochures, and other publications installed in several places around Surakarta. The assistance was also provided to the village government apparatus in Surakarta to conduct socialization on Covid-19 to the community. “We also distributed face masks for the financially disadvantaged community, street vendors, online motorcycle taxi drivers, and others,” Ir. Heri Sosiawan, M.M., added.

In the downstream, Ir. Heri Sosiawan, M.M., the Chief of Community Service IKA UNS, explained that IKA UNS provided aids for people who are going through a self-quarantine process at home. The aids were delivered in the form of 200 lunch packages for 60 days delivered through several villages. IKA UNS also provides two ambulance units for hearses free for the community. “Drivers and fuels are provided by IKA UNS. So, people could use these two ambulance units for free,” Ir. Heri Sosiawan, M.M., added.

IKA UNS does not stop there and also provides assistance for Covid-19 patient burial. The association sends 12 people equipped with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), boots, gloves, mask, and vitamins. This personnel is ready to assist in a burial from the digging process, transport to the site, and the funeral itself. “IKA UNS also provides aids in the form of coffins for financially disadvantaged,” Ir. Heri Sosiawan, M.M., said.

Ir. Heri Sosiawan, M.M, specifically thanked everyone who has assisted IKA UNS for its community services program. Ir. Heri Sosiawan, M.M., thanked UNS, UNS Hospital, UNS alumni in Surakarta, healthcare volunteers, the municipal government of Surakarta, Financial Service Authority (OJK) Surakarta, and Covid-19 Taskforce Surakarta. He stated that the program’s success is the result of UNS alumni gotong-royong and the society. “We hope this program can be continuous with the help from many parties,” he revealed.

IKA UNS will provide an official report on the result of their program on Friday (23/7/2021) at 19.30 UTC+7, in Go-Live IKA UNS Peduli Covid-19. The event will be broadcasted on the UNS YouTube channel and through Zoom Cloud Meeting.

Go Live IKA UNS Peduli Covid-19 will be attended by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho; Chairman of IKA UNS Ir. Budi Harto; Chairman of Board of Commissioners (DK) OJK RI, Prof. Wimboh Santoso; Surakarta Major, Gibran Rakabuming Raka; and Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, Doni Primanto Joewono.
