UNS — Nurul Huda Mosque (NH) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a qurban cutting ceremony to celebrate the Eid Al Adha 1442 Hijriah, in NH Mosque yard, Wednesday morning (21/7/2021). Sixteen cows and nine goats were cut in this ceremony.
The cutting ceremony was attended by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS Prof. Ahmad Yunus; Vice-Rector for Management and Human Resources Affairs UNS, Prof. Bandi; Dean of Faculty of Sports (FKOR) UNS Dr. Sapta Kunta, Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP members), and the Chief of UNS Public Relations and Media Unit, Dr. Deddy Whinata Kardiyanto.
In an interview between the event, Prof. Jamal stated that the animal cuts this year are from the rector, vice-rectors, Chief and Secretary of Board of Trustees (MWA) UNS, Chief and Secretary of the Board of Professors UNS, Faculty of Agriculture (FP) UNS, BRI, BNI, BTN, Bank Mandiri, BPD Jateng, BSI, and Bank Permata.
“This is a collective qurban of UNS executive board to celebrate Eid Al Adha 1442 Hijriah. I thank all people who have set aside a part of their wealth following the direction in Surah Al-Kautsar,” Prof. Jamal stated.
Prof. Jamal also explained that after the cutting ceremony, the meat from the qurban would be distributed to UNS non-contract employees and the community around the campus. Prof. Jamal mentioned that UNS has 900 non-contract employees and around 1,000 community members around the campus.
“Insyaallah, our qurban could be accepted as a combination of worship and muamalah. The worship because it is Allah SWT direction and the muamalah because our qurban is cut for those who need it,” Prof. Jamal added.
On the same occasion, Prof. Ahmad Yunus, who is also the Head of NH UNS Mosque management, added that the qurban meat would also be distributed to villages under FP UNS assistance.
“There is a change from the previous years, (the campus) has not shared with contract employees. That’s why (this year) UNS academic members and a small amount for the people around (the campus). We prioritize people around the campus. Only after that we shared with other communities, for example, villages assisted (by UNS). There are two villages assisted by FP (UNS),” Prof. Ahmad Yunus explained. Humas UNS
