UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held an Expo for the result of the Student Community Service Program (KKN) UNS July-August 2021 period. The exhibition was held in Solo Techno Park for two days, Saturday-Sunday (20-21 November 2021), and was opened by the Vice Mayor of Surakarta, Teguh Prakosa, on Saturday (20/11/2021).
The exhibition was attended by the Vice Mayor, Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS, Prof. Ahmad Yunus; Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Affairs UNS, Prof. Kuncoro Diharjo; and the Chief of UP KKN UNS, Prof. Sudibya.
In his opening remark, Prof. Sudibya reported that there are 150 stands in the exhibition that aims to enrich students’ experience and provide a general description of KKN to students who will take the program in the following period. The specific objective of the expo is to exhibit the products resulting from KKN activities physically, sharing rural development concepts, and sharing KKN activities through video.
“There are 1,155 excellent products exhibited, 212 are digital products, 246 education products, 157 appropriate technologies, 178 handicraft products, 212 processed food products, and 150 other creative products,” Prof. Sudibya explained.
From the 133 student stands, seven are from Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program, one stand in research and innovation (Risnov UNS), one stand of supervised partner represented by Batik Girilayu, PT Parametric and Bank Permata stands, and photography stand. In July-August 2021, KKN UNS sent off 3,441 students in the KKN program in Solo and surrounding areas and outside Java for students staying in their hometown. The expo exhibit KKN products, talkshow, photography competition of KKN products, and music performance.
Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS, Prof. Ahmad Yunus, stated that this event is held to show the products developed in KKN programs that could be developed by the Business and Industrial World (DUDI).
“To bring together DUDI and rural potential so that the rural development program initiated through KKN could be developed further. This event is also expected to inspire UNS students and other campuses that will implement the KKN program in the next period,” Prof. Yunus stated.
Teguh Prakosa, as the Vice Mayor of Surakarta, appreciated the expo and stated that university student’s role and involvement in regional development through KKN is greatly needed.
“Because university students are the agent of change, it is expected that the knowledge obtained from the campus could be utilized to contribute to the community. Especially in developing community empowerment that maintains local wisdom of the community,” Teguh stated. Humas UNS
