UNS — Faculty of Economic and Business (FEB) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta participated in Kedaireka Program under the title of Kedaireka Matching Fund: Komodifikasi Model Pariwisata Berbasis HEBAT (Heritage, Ecology, Batiq, Agriculture Tourism) Melalui Pemberdayaan Pentahelix Stakeholder (Sragen HEBAT) (Commodification of Tourism Model based on HEBAT- Heritage, Ecology, Batiq, Agriculture Tourism) through Pentahelix Stakeholders Empowerment – Sragen HEBAT).
To support this program, Kedaireka FEB UNS led by Prof. Dr. Izza Mafruhah, SE, M.Si., held a Training for Souvenir Design from batik patchworks in Aula Sukowati Setda Sragen District on Thursday (29/9/2022).
The training also invited the Faculty Member from the Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD) UNS, Dyah Yunu Kurniawati, S.Sn., M.Sn.
“Based on Kedaireka research, Sragen has three superior tourism potentials; Gunung Kemukus, Waduk Kedung Ombo, and Sangiran. These potentials can be developed by training the Human Resources to be skillful and ready to be a host of tourism destinations. As a speaker in the souvenir design training, I delivered materials on processing batik patchworks as souvenirs,” Dyah stated.
During the training, the participants, 40 representatives from Village-owned Businesses (BUMDes) in Gunung Kemukus, Waduk Kedung Ombo, and Sangiran, were enthusiastic about creating the souvenirs. Participants put their designs into practice under the supervision of the team. The souvenirs made by the participants were in the form of earrings, bangles, necklaces, brooches, bag tags, and other kinds of souvenirs.
“Hopefully, in the future, we could develop patchworks into a headband, batik combination shirt, and other products. Or by exploring the natural resource’s potential. For example, there are many stones in Sangiran that can be developed into souvenirs like pendants, necklaces, bangles, and earrings,” Dyah concluded.
