UNSFaculty of Law (FH) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Training Center of the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office on Tuesday (18/7/2023). The signing of the collaboration between UNS and the Training Center of the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office took place offline at the Ballroom of the Ki Hadjar Dewantara Building UNS.

The MoU signing was carried out by the Dean of FH UNS, Prof. Dr. I Gusti Ayu Ketut Rachmi Handayani, S.H. M.M., and the Head of the Training Center of the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office, Tony T. Spontana, S.H., M.Hum.

The signing of this collaboration was witnessed by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum. He was accompanied by the Acting Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S.; the Acting Vice Rector for General Affairs and Human Resources UNS, Dr. Muhtar, S.Pd., M.Sc., CfrA .; the Acting Vice Rector for Research and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Kuncoro Diharjo, S.T., M.T.; and the Acting Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, Business and Information, Prof. Irwan Trinugroho, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., as well as the Directors, Deans and Heads of Study Program at FH UNS.

The delegation from the Training Center of the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office was represented by Tony T. Spontana, S.H., M.Hum, as the Head. He was accompanied by the Head of Program and Evaluation at the Functional Technical Training Center for the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office, Suwanda, S.H., M.H.; the Subdivision Head of Evaluation in the Program and Evaluation Division of the Functional Technical Training Center of the Indoensian Attorney General’s Office, Dr. Ari Fitria, S.H., M.H; the Head of the Central Java High Prosecutor’s Office, Dr. I Made Suarnawan, S.H., M.H.; the Heads of District Prosecutor’s Office in the former Surakarta Residency; and the entire leadership of the Functional Technical Training Center of the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office.

In the MoU signing, UNS and the Training Center of the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office jointly agreed on a memorandum of understanding regarding doctoral study opportunities for prosecutor employees at UNS. This collaboration is also related to the implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education (Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi) and the MBKM Program.

Tony T. Spontana, S.H., M.Hum., expressed his gratitude for the collaboration with FH UNS. This signing immediately resulted in an agreement for doctoral studies at UNS, which is quite exceptional considering that most other universities only reach agreements for master’s degree studies.

The use of technology in the field of law is rapidly evolving. The use of AI, which is prevalent in society, is also starting to make its way into the legal realm. However, this aspect is addressed differently by the Head of the Training Center of the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office.

He directed that every examination and assignment in the education and training of prospective prosecutors should remain conventional. This is to preserve dignity and foster prosecutors who have a strong sense of justice and peace.

“We can realize a future Indonesian Attorney General Human Resources toward a more prosperous Indonesia,” Tony T. Spontana, S.H., M.Hum. said.

Prof. Jamal, the Rector of UNS, in his remarks, emphasized that UNS as a pioneer campus of Pancasila ideology will continue to support government policies and enhance the nation’s intelligence. He assured that UNS is ready to provide professional staff for the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office who wish to pursue their doctoral studies at UNS.

The Faculty of Law (FH) has undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programs, all of which are accredited as “A”. FH UNS has many professors and doctors who are committed to creating competent human resources to uphold the law in Indoensia. This demonstrates that the Training Center of the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office made the right decision to collaborate with UNS.

Furthermore, this collaboration is the second effort between the two institutions to implement government programs, especially the Independent Campus Learning Program (MBKM). Through this collaboration, Prof. Jamal also hopes for an improvement in the Three Pillars of Higher Education.

“The collaboration between the Training Center of the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office and FH UNS for the education of prospective doctoral candidates for prosecuto staff is very appropriate and relevant to be carried out,” Prof. Jamal said.
