UNS — To express appreciation for students who have achieved excellence at regional, national, and international levels throughout 2023, the Faculty of Medicine (FK) at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta organized an event called the Night of Appreciation for Outstanding Students of 2023.
No fewer than 300 students were awarded medals and certificates by the leaders of FK UNS as an acknowledgement of the accomplishments they have made. For reference, based on the ranking released by the Times Higher Education World University Ranking (THE WUR) by subject, FK UNS ranks third in Indonesia. THE WUR uses 18 indicators in five fields, one of which is student reputation. This was emphasized by the Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K), stating in his remarks that FK UNS’s ranking achievements are, in part, thanks to the contributions of its students.
“With this activity, I will continue to strive to appreciate students because what FK UNS has achieved is inseparable from the contribution of students. After awards are given at the regional and national levels in the first to third sessions, in the final awarding session, appreciation will be given to students who have achieved excellence at the international level,” he said during the event held at the Ballroom of the Ki Hadjar Dewantara Building, UNS, last Saturday (2/12/2023).
Several international awards achieved by FK UNS students include 1st Place in the Best Thesis Young Investigator Award for Dr. Herlambang Pranandaru at the SICOT International Trainees and Young Surgeons Meeting 2023; 2nd Place in Photography for Kyra Modesty in the International Association of Art Photographers competition; Favorite Scientific Poster at the Seoul International Digestive Disease Symposium 2023 for Aiman Hilmi Asaduddin; Favorite Poster Nomination for Roisya Nur Farhania at the Seoul International Digestive Disease Symposium 2023; Travel Grand for Dr. Evi Nurhayatun, dr., Sp.PD., M.Kes., FINASIM at The 43rd Annual Meeting of the Korean Society of Nephrology, and many more awards received by FK UNS students in the field of international journal publications.
In addition to recognizing outstanding students, the event was enlivened by performances from the Scarta Band from the Student Activity Unit (UKM), the FK UNS Educational Staff Band, the Medical Rock Band, Gladhi Beksan, and a Wayang (traditional puppetry) performance by Wahyu Suminar.
With this appreciation, it is hoped to serve as a motivator for other students to follow in the footsteps of their peers who have successfully achieved excellence, thus enhancing the quality of FK UNS students. Humas UNS
