There are 14 universities in Indonesia ranked in THE WUR 2022, the highest ranking is Universitas Indonesia (UI) ranked 801-1.000 worldwide. UNS is ranked in 1,201+ with Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), Universitas Diponegoro (Undip), Universitas Brawijaya (UB), Universitas Airlangga (Unair), Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas), Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad), Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Universitas Bina Nusantara (Binus University), and Universitas Telkom (Telkom University).
Prof. Jamal added that THE WUR has five pillars in its ranking, including teaching (30%), research (30%), citations (30%), industry income (2.5%), and international outlook (7.5%). Teaching shows the quality of learning environment, research shows the volume, income, and reputation in research, citations measured the impact of research, industry income is a proxy of knowledge transfer, and international outlook is measured from the number of international staff, international students, and international research collaboration. Each of these pillars is then used to develop measured indicators for each pillar.
“We are grateful UNS for the first time could be included into THE WUR and is on the same ground with other big universities such as UGM and IPB. I shared my gratitude to all UNS academic members who have contributed to this achievement,” Prof. Jamal said. Humas UNS
