UNS – The ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN QA) Assessor team was welcomed by Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta which was led by Sutarno as the vice head of Academic Administration Affair of UNS, Darsono as the vice head of Student Affair, Widodo Muktiyo as the head of Planning and Cooperation Administration Affair, along with the deans and Self Assessment Report (SAR) team UNS, Tuesday (8/5/2018).
AUN QA team assessed four departments, namely the Department of Management, Biology, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering, Tuesday-Thursday (8-10/5/2018). The in-charge assessors were Myrna S. Austria (De La Salle University), Marilou G. Nicolas (University of the Philippines), Clarita Carillo (University of Santo Tomas), Raymund Sison (De La Salle University), Vongdeuan OSAY (National University of Laos ), Pham Van Tuan (The University of Danang), Amelia P. Guevara (University of the Philippines), and Le Quang Minh (Vietnam National University).
AUN QA has two assessors to assess each department. In the first day, eight assessors had a hearing with the deans of each faculty. Afterward, they did the hearings to the lecturers, staffs and the students. In the second day of assessment, they interviewed the alumni and the companies which use their capability. In the next activity, they visited several facilities in UNS. Ravik Karsidi as the Rector of UNS explained that the assessor team appreciated the four departments that have been assessed. They also commented about the strengths and gave advice for each department.
“UNS is going to receive the certification from AUN QA. Fortunately, it became UNS first step of being acknowledged by the international accreditation institution, especially in ASEAN level. Now, we have four departments that are in the same level with the other qualified universities in ASEAN,” Ravik said.
In the end, Ravik also appreciated the four departments that had been through all the steps of certification from AUN QA, especially for the Management department that became the coordinator for this occasion. Meanwhile, the other departments such as the Department of Law Studies, Economic Development, Agribusiness, and Special Education are being prepared for the next certification. By this certification, UNS hopefully can realize its vision to become The World Class University in 2027. humas-red.uns/Ysp/Dty
