UNS — In collaboration with PT. Pegadaian, Faculty of Agriculture (FP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a soft opening ceremony for Campus Waste Bank on Thursday (1/4/2021) in  Rumah Kompos (Compost House) FP UNS.
FP UNS Green Campus Coordinator and Waste Bank manager, Prof. Retno Rosariastuti, stated that Campus Waste Bank is a movement initiated to invite UNS academic members and students to save waste. The customers of Campus Waste Bank can exchange their waste with equivalent gold. Those who are not interested in gold investment have the cash exchange option. The movement is a collaboration between FP UNS and PT. Pegadaian since 2020, but the soft opening ceremony was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The soft opening invited stakeholders of Campus Waste Bank, for example, the customers, managers, Pegadaian, and other partners that attend to provide suggestions on the implementation of Campus Bank trial,” Prof. Retno explained.
In an interview with the uns.ac.id team, Prof. Retno added that PT. Pegadaian chooses UNS as an example for Campus Waste Bank management in Indonesia. Thus, this soft opening serves as a supervisory function on the implementation of the movement. Prof. Retno and will continue to evaluate the program. When it is deemed ready to operate on a routine time frame, the program will be implemented as University’s program.
This program’s grand opening is scheduled after Eid and invites Prof. Jamal Wiwoho as UNS Rector and the Executive Board of PT Pegadaian. Humas UNS
