UNS — The Faculty of Engineering (FT) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta and PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) held a visiting lecture, Monday (6/3/2023). The visiting lecture which took place at Ir. RPM Kasifudin building is one of the agendas in commemorating the 47th Dies Natalis UNS.
The speaker presented in the visiting lecture entitled ‘Advanced Automotive Green Technology Toward Carbon Neutral’ was the Deputy Chief Officer of TMMIN, Widjanarko. Meanwhile, this event was moderated by Deputy Chief Technical Govt Affairs TMMIN, Irwin Tristanto. The Dean of FT UNS, Dr. Sholihin As’ad and Director of Corporate Affairs TMMIN, Bob Azam.
The Dean of FT UNS said that there must be synergy between the university and the industrial world so that both do not run separately. He also appreciated Toyota for holding various series of events at UNS, such as national seminars, test drives, opening of internships, and so on.
“Campus needs to go hand in hand with the industrial world so that the relationship between the two is very much needed. What is on campus should be in accordance with what is needed by the market or the industrial world. Thank you, Toyota has partnered with the Faculty of Engineering UNS,” he said.
Bob Azam, as TMMIN Director of Corporate Affairs, said that TMMIN is ready to open careers for UNS graduates and open internship opportunities for active students.
“In facing the era of industrial and automotive technology in the future, we want to increase UNS alumni as one of the backbones in the automotive industry,” he said.
Furthermore, he said that now people have to start caring about the environment, one of which is by reducing emissions. Due the more emissions was produced, the more negative impacts they will have. These impacts include an increase in sea water, rising temperatures, changes in weather, and so on.
Being the background for TMMIN as an automotive manufacturer that produces emissions then it is committed to minimize emissions. TMMIN also targets that in 2050, TMMIN will have zero emissions.
Meanwhile, in his material, TMMIN Deputy Chief Officer, Widjanarko explained about Toyota’s role and contribution in implementing carbon neutral.
“Currently, Toyota is trying so that by 2035, all Toyota companies are zero carbon. While for vehicles we are targeting 2050. In addition, Toyota has planned to make 30 models of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) until 2030 and the target is 3.5 million BEV in 2030. Related to environmental issues, the government has set several main concerns, one of which is the green economy,” he explained
Apart from developing environmentally friendly vehicles, Toyota is also working to continuously improve the quality of its Human Resources (HR). One of them is by holding visiting lectures for students so that students do care more and understand about electrification and carbon neutrality. Cooperation in the form of Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA) with several BUMNs to develop batteries had also been carried out by TMMIN. Humas UNS
