UNS — Faculty of Engineering (FT) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a hybrid talk show on “Scholarship in Taiwan” on Wednesday (5/1/2022). The offline talk show was held in Ruang Sidang Senat Building 3 FT UNS and online through the Zoom Cloud Meeting application.
Arif Misbahul M., S.T., MBM., the President of International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) Taiwan-Indonesia, was invited to the talk show as a speaker. The talk show was opened by Dr. Titis Srimuda Pitana, S.T., M.Trop., Arch., as Vice-Dean for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs FT UNS, who appreciated the talk show.
“This talk show is beneficial for students and FT UNS alumni who want to continue their study in Taiwan,” he mentioned.
The opening remark from Dr. Titis was followed with material from Arif. He stated that there are several collaborations between UNS and Taiwan, including Taiwan Visiting Professor, Taiwan Training/Workshop, and Student Mobility. UNS also often sent students through the Student Mobility program before the pandemic.
“Before the pandemic, we sent students there,” Arif stated.
Further, Arif shared the objective of Taiwan Center Indonesia to prepare Indonesian human resources in facing globalization and disruption era. Arif also explained that Taiwan could be considered as a target for continuing study, such as it is classified as an advanced industrial country, safe, comfortable, affordable tuition fees, friendly community, and good quality of life. Arif also stated that there is a wide career opportunity for foreigners living in Taiwan.
Arif continues with the funding used by students continuing their study in Taiwan, including parents’ subsidies, scholarships, part-time works, and online businesses such as personal shoppers. For undergraduate program selection in Taiwan, there are two options available for Indonesian students, first ICDF Indonesia recommendation facilitated by Taiwan Center Indonesia UNS. Secondly, through International Fall Intake in September and International Spring Intake in February. The talk show was concluded with a questions and answers session. Humas UNS
