There will be large social impacts after the pandemic over, on the economic, language, legal, food consumption, and others. Dr. Sentot Sudarwanto stated that during the pandemic, the government has issued several Presidential Decrees (keppres).
“Some of the regulations or Keppres are Ministry of Law and Human Rights Decree Number 10 of 2020, Government Regulations in Lieu of Law (Perppu) No. 1 of 2020, and Presidential Decision No. 12 of 2020. This is the legal challenge amid the pandemic,” he explained.
Law aims to create safety and legal protection. Surveillance is needed in the implementation of the regulation or Keppres to ensure that the government will work properly. Dr. Sentot added that there is certain inappropriateness in the issued regulations so far.
“For example, Perppu No. 1 of 2020 which brings polemic in the community. Because Article 27 indicates the right of immunity or legal immunity for state administrators,” he explained.
The language also experiencing changes since the Covid-19 pandemic started. In the presentation entitled Post Covid-19 Language and Social Behavior Change delivered by Dr. Henry Yustanto, discussed the changes.
Dr. Henry explained that cultural or linguistic shifts are a socio-cultural phenomenon in a society undergoing a process of change.
“Currently, new dictions, which is actually old, but the community has just known, for example, dalam jaringan (daring) (online) and luar jaringan (luring) (offline). The communication which is usually performed directly, changed into indirect through written language. The use of written and spoken language also affect the communication process because it might result in different perception,” he explained.
Covid-19 causes large social change. However, there are positive aspects that can be learned such as the realization of massive communication through the internet, the growth of cooperation and social values after being eroded by modernization, and the increase in the sense of awareness in the community.
