UNS — The Alumni Association of Universitas Sebelas Maret (IKA UNS) Surakarta held another virtual ‘Wedangan’ secara virtual on Wednesday Rabu (5/5/2021). This event is a weekly event organized by the IKA UNS to maintain the networking and silaturahim between the alumni and the university. This event marks the 56th Wedangan IKA UNS entitled ‘Development of the Center of Excellence in Science and Technology (PUI) and the UNS Business Unit toward the World Class University.’ The virtual event was attended by the UNS Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs, Prof. Dr. rer.nat. Sajidan, M.Si.
Opening the discussion, Prof. Sajidan states that the role of UNS alumni is crucial and much-awaited to build UNS as an excellent and advanced university. “We hope the alumni can give suggestions on the development of UNS Business Unit. We wish to establish significant improvements after the transformation from PTN-BLU into PTNBH,” Prof. Sajidan reveals. At this special event, Prof. Sajidan explains the UNS position as a PTNBH and his hope to implement the status as a special identity of UNS.
To establish this specific UNS identity, the university has established three Center of Excellence for Science and Technology (PUI) and a Business Unit. Currently, all of the PUIs are included in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Center of Excellence (PUIPT). Even more, the PUI Fintech and Banking become the top PUIPT in the First cluster of the National PUIPT.
Additionally, UNS planned to strengthen the current Business Management Agency (BPU) by establishing a Limited Company (PT). The company is expected to accommodate the innovations and downstream products and services created by UNS lecturers or other UNS academic members. However, this Business Unit will focus on optimizing the existing businesses such as UNS Inn and Health Clinic located in Kentingan and Pabelan.
Responding to this plan, the Deputy Chairman of the IKA UNS, Prof. Zudan A Fakhrulloh, S.H., M.H., states that he is ready to support UNS to develop the campus. The alumnus, who currently serves as the Director-General of Population and Civil Registration, states that he is proud of current UNS achievements.
“We are delighted with this development. Any support from the alumni will be done, and InsyaAllah, we can work together, move forward simultaneously to build UNS, even as a top 500 global universities,” Prof. Zudan said. Humas UNS
