UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta students achieve another proud achievement. This time a team of students from the Faculty of Teacher’s Training and Education (FKIP) and the Faculty of Agriculture (FP). The team has three members, Yokanang Chandra Arfiansyah from Natural Science Education Program UNS, Dena Olivia Christy from Soil Science Program UNS, and Lingga Harzaldi Sukarno from Agricultural Extension & Communication Program (PKP) FP UNS.
The team won the 2ns prize in Public Service Advertising Video Contest Agrixplosion 2021 held by Student Association in Agricultural Extension & Communication Program (HM Pelita) FP UNS. Agrixplosion 2021 event with the main event was held through the Zoom Meeting on Sunday (7/8/2021) has three national-level competition categories essay competition, public service advertising video contest, and broadcast. The competition has “Young Generation as a Key Leader of Indonesia’s Agricultural Future Fate” as a theme and was held entirely online.
In their public service advertising video, Yokanang and his team members invited the millennials to utilize and empower the agricultural sector. Their video invited the millennials to be directly involved in the agricultural sector in Indonesia and emphasized that farmers have a vital role in national food resilience. The agricultural sector also proved that despite the pandemic, it is still capable of moving the economy. Thus, it is deeply regretted if the young generation is not willing to work in this sector.
Young farmers brought creativity and innovation into the agricultural sectors, such as organic cultivation, hydroponic technology, and the use of digital marketing for agricultural products. Yokanang and the team hope that their video could motivate millennials to participate in building the agricultural sector in Indonesia.
“Hopefully, the video could awaken young generation (awareness) to build the agricultural sector in Indonesia,” Yokanang said. Humas UNS
