UNS — Arunika Team Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta won 2nd place in the IT-based learning media competition in Information Technology Competition 2021. The team consisted of three students of Office Administration Education Program (PAP) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) UNS: Muhammad Hilmi Sabitul Azmi, Mahendra Arya Wisnu P., and Rahmi Riyani.

To uns.ac.id, Azmi explained that the learning media they submitted collaborate the learning and playing activities by directing students to certain posts or going to your post method. The learning media is also integrated with multi-platforms, websites, and applications that can be applied during the pandemic, Azmi explained on Monday (29/11/2021). The team innovates the offline learning method into an online platform by integrating various applications such as Google Drive, QR Code Scanner, QR Code Generator, and supporting apps such as Canva or Corel Draw for designing.

The system is implemented by providing questions to students in a poster filled with QR Codes containing randomized posts. Students were asked to determine the order of the posts based on the hints from their teacher. Each post will give them a hint on the next post. “This media is a game. Students do not feel that they are learning but playing. They feel like they are a detective that solves an issue,” Azmi said.

Although the media was designed for elementary school students, the team thinks that it could be applied to any school level. The media will remain appropriate as long as students can operate technology. It also provides an option for university students in going through their School Environment Introduction (PLP) Program because it offers new experiences for students. There are several tips to apply the media successfully, such as having solid intention, creativity in developing designs, and tenacity in using all the main and supporting apps.

IT-Based Learning Media Innovation from Arunika Team UNS Won 2nd Prize in ITC 2021

The team was delighted and proud of their achievement. The competitors did not sway them in competing. They also thanked their supervisor and PAP UNS for their supports. They hoped that they could apply the media in their PLP and that it would assist teachers in innovating or as an alternative for classroom learning. They believe that their learning media could bring new feelings and prevent students’ boredom.

The competition Arunika participated in was held by the Student Association (HMP) in Elementary School Teacher Education Program (PGSD) FKIP Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS). The competition theme was Information Technology Competition (ITC) 2021 that provides room for FKIP students in Indonesia to design IT-based learning media. Humas UNS
