UNS — As an effort to achieve success in Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta Village Development Program, Group 308 of Student Community Service Program (KKN) UNS supervised by Dr. Maria Ulfa., M.Si., as a field supervisor, assisted Batik Mekar Sari MSME, in Jendi Village, Selogiri Sub-District, Wonogiri District. The team was led by Abdurrro’uf Althof Abiyyi and has eight members: Athira Nur Rosyada, Ellysya Oktaviani Ariyanti, Afifah, Radityo Amaradipta Prasodjo, Revy Satria Ediatama, Elisa Bernadheta Mellyana Putri, Deby Fersiani, and Afifah Martanti.
The assistance was conducted in Rumah Pintar Jendi Village and was attended by ten people registered as members of PKK Jendi Village. During the assistance, all participants and committees apply strict health protocols. “Wearing a mask, maintain physical distance, and use hand sanitizer,” Dr. Maria explained in a release received by uns.ac.id team on Tuesday (7/9/2021).
The PKK members who are a part of the MSME are invited to discuss various issues experienced by the MSME during the pandemic and the solutions. The assistance was provided from 21 August to 23 August 2021 and was followed by socialization on how to apply copyrights to have a legal brand right. Socialization on online marketing was also provided by Group 308 to Batik Mekarsari to increase sales and introduce its signature ‘corak batik kombinasi ciprat tulis’ to the community. On Monday (23/8/2021), the Group also conducted training for making batik on the t-shirt and tote bags, and for the first time, the MSME tried the famous tie-dye technique for t-shirt and chop and tulis batik for the tote bag.
According to Dr. Maria, the assistance was provided as a follow-up to a survey of village potential conducted by Group 308 in Jendi Village. The Group found that the village has several MSMEs such as chips, jamu, rambak, and batik MSMEs. Batik Mekar Sari is selected as the focus of the program because it has many factors to be developed, which prompted the Group to take a role in developing the business.
The assistance focused on introducing copyright applications, digital marketing, and solving issues during the pandemic to ensure business sustainability. According to the Batik Mekar Sari coordinator, Revolani, the MSME needs to be developed and marketed to provide additional income for PKK members.
“Considering that MSME Batik Mekar Sari is PKK activity to fill free time, the results need to be developed and marketed to generate additional income,” Revolani stated.
The assistance is expected to enable the MSME to conduct online marketing, apply copyrights, and solve business problems during the pandemic to generate additional income for its members. Humas UNS
