UNS — Rector Cup IV Road to Mathematics and Natural Science National Competition (KN-MIPA) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta will be held again. This competition is a selection for university students in UNS who will compete in the National KN-MIPA.
The competition will be held online on 26-27 February 2022 in four categories: mathematics, biology, physics, and chemistry. Afif Zakiy Abdullah, S.Mat., as the managing committee of Rector Cup IV, stated that the competition is open for all UNS students in the undergraduate level in semester 8th or below.
“Students must be from MIPA or relevant discipline. For example, physics students could apply for mathematics. For mathematics, (participants) have not participated in International Mathematics Competition (IMC) for University Students,” Afif explained on Wednesday (9/2/2022).
The registration for Rector Cup IV is opened from 1 February-14 February 2022 through bit.ly/PendaftaranRC4UNS. The competition guideline can be accessed through bit.ly/PanduanRC4UNS.
Afif added that after the registration, there would be an examination to select seven students in each category.
“The selected seven students will compete in the final round of Rector Cup IV Road to KN-MIPA 2022. They will then be selected according to the maximum number of university representatives to participate in KN-MIPA 2022,” he added.
One of the National KN-MIPA medalists in the Chemistry category from UNS, Achmad Nurul Yaqin, also invited UNS students to participate in the championship. The student of the Faculty of Medical Science (FK) UNS succeeded in winning a medal in the national round in 2020 and 2021.
“KN-MIPA taught that the best opportunity does not always belong to those with experiences. Many participants with science Olympiad medals failed in the university selection, and many new names appear in the Olympics championship,” Yaqin stated.
He added that the gathering of Olympians in UNS increases UNS students’ opportunity to win the national round. Yaqin also mentioned that the written exam is not the hardest selection in Rector Cup, but natural selection. “MIPA as the basis could serve as a fundamental in comprehending and developing each discipline,” he concluded.
