UNS — The Chief of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Okid Parama Atsirin, shared an update on the preparation of a roadmap for Merah Putih Vaccine facilities and infrastructure prepared last year. This current update was shared with uns.ac.id after UNS 45th Anniversary press release in Ruang Sidang IV dr. Prakosa Rectorate Building, Friday afternoon (5/2/2021).
“The roadmap preparation, vaccination, and equipment for Covid-19 handling are extended to 2021,” Prof. Okid stated.
She added that Kemenristek/BRIN had provided special direction that all research equipment, facilities, and infrastructures are prioritized to accelerate Merah Putih Vaccine’s completion. She also stated that currently, UNS researchers is developing three candidates of equipment to treat Covid-19 patient. These equipment are emergency ventilators, ventilator ICU, and air purifiers. All of the equipment under development are currently standardized in the medical device development workshop.
The three equipment is the UNS researcher’s direct contribution to developing supporting facilities and infrastructure for Merah Putih Vaccine that will be produced starting 2022. Prof. Okid also shared the information on Merah Putih Vaccine’s candidates currently developed by UI, UGM, Unair, ITB, LBM Eijkman, and BPPT. She stated that these candidates would be compared to comprehend its targets.
“All of these efforts (will continue) until reaching a finding to develop Merah Putih Vaccine. Therefore, it is joint research funded by Kemenristek/ BRIN and LPDP,” Prof. Okid mentioned. Humas UNS
