UNS — The UPT Library of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta received a library visit and initiated a collaboration with the Republic of Indonesia State Printing Corporation Lokananta Surakarta. The visit aimed to obtain best practices for the library. During the visit, Lokananta Surakarta conveyed an invitation to collaborate in the field of library management.

In Magma, the Head of the Lokananta Surakarta Library, mentioned the purpose of benchmarking with the UNS Library. “The collaboration aims to enhance knowledge, experience and best ideas for improving and optimizing library management by involving experts and practitioners in the field. Lokanata Library aims to provide extensive insights for all parties, especially in Surakarta, as well as the general public in Indonesia regarding knowledge and music recording,” In Magma explained during the visit at the Arjuna Room, UNS Library, Tuesday (11/7/2023).

In addition, Metta, a staff member of Lokananta Surakarta Library, mentioned that Lokanata has a digital music library that neatly stores music archives of folk songs from all regions of Indonesia, as well as popular songs such as Keroncong. “Further, the Lokanata digital music library also preserves important recordings of Indonesia’s national journey. We hope that this collaboration will inspire all library users to enjoy the audio library for literacy purposes,” Metta said.

Burhanudin Harahap, S.H., M.H., M.Sc., Ph.D., the Head of UPT Library UNS, welcomed the collaboration with Lokananta Surakarta. Burhanudin stated that this collaboration could enhance literacy and library development, support services for library users, and accelerate the growth of library management.

The collaboration will foster mutual benefits between the UPT UNS Library and the Lokananta Surakarta Library. Moreover, the benchmarking aims to establish a strong synergy in librarian mentoring and sustainable library programs, fostering mutual symbiosis between the two libraries. All aspects of collaboration and efforts to improve human resources for librarians were discussed during their discussion. Through this collaboration, it is expected to create positive institutional collaboration and provide extensive access to information literacy, especially for both parties, ultimately fostering an intelligent, excellent, and competitive generation.

In conclusion, Burhanudin hopes that this activity will benefit all library users. During the visit, the Lokananta Surakarta Library expanded new knowledge and introduced new insights that could be utilized for library development and strengthening literacy among librarians and library users.

In the future, UNS Library will continue to enhance its potential and develop management to establish collaborations with various parties, enabling continuous growth, usefulness, and competitiveness in the current era. Additionally, UNS Library aims to communicate and collaborate with all library stakeholders, particularly in the Soloraya region, in the near future. Humas UNS
