UNS — The Postgraduate School, Master in Education Technology Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, held a workshop entitled “Strategies for Writing Good Journal Articles” on Thursday (28/4/2022). The event is held virtually through the Zoom Cloud Meeting.
Led by Dr. Fatma Sukmawati, M.Pd., as moderator, this workshop invited two speakers. The first speaker was Ghanis Putra, M.Pd, the manager of the Journal of Innovative Journal of Curriculum and Education Technology, Universitas Negeri Semarang Postgraduate Program (UNNES). In his presentation, he delivered material entitled “Improving the Quality of Scientific Article Substance.” In general, he explains the two preparatory phases of writing a manuscript. The first phase is to prepare research results, hardware, and supporting software.
Meanwhile, the second phase is to improve writing competencies to transform research into manuscripts. At the beginning of his material, he delivered tips on choosing references. “Generally, the references should contain research from the last 5-10 years. The literature material selection must be relevant to the title. Moreover, I suggest choosing literature that has not been cited in a dissertation or thesis. This minimizes similarity concerns when the Turnitin test is carried out,” explained Ghanis.
The second speaker was Muhammad Hanif, M.Pd., the manager of the EduBasic Journal in the Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) and the Teknodika Journal UNS. He presented material entitled “Writing Articles in Teknodika.” In his presentation, he explained three main points, how to choose suitable journals, submitting articles through the Open Journal Systems (OJS), and the writing style used in Teknodika Journal. He started the presentation by explaining two categories of journals, namely national and international journals.

Meanwhile, international journals are divided into three categories, namely high impact and reputable international journal, international journal indexed by reputable institution, and indexed internationally or ordinary,” explained Hanif.
