UNS — The Master Program ins Education Technology Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a “Visiting Professor Series” webinar with Prof. Ju Seong Lee from The Education University of Hongkong on 27 and 29 September 2021. The webinar that aims to strengthen and hone students’ and faculty members’ research skills was attended by around 300 participants.

Dr. Triana Rejekiningsih, M.Pd., the Head of Master Program ins Education Technology UNS, stated that research in education technology is vital in facing technological development to improve learning creativity and innovation. “This event is also part of internationalization efforts taken by UNS, especially the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP),” Dr. Triana stated in her opening remark on Monday (27/9/2021).

The Dean of FKIP UNS, Dr. Mardiyana, M.Si., appreciated the event that captured high interest from participants. Dr. Mardiyana also mentioned the importance of events that support the Key Performance Indicators (IKU) UNS through strengthening collaboration with various institutions, including international institutions.

Mixed-Method Research

On the first day, Prof. Lee explained materials on Mixed Method Research & Quantitative Data Collection, with Dr. Nur Arifah Drajati, M.Pd., acted as the moderator. In his presentation, Prof. Lee emphasized the importance of adaptability for researchers. “Research pattern experienced significant shift during the pandemic. From data collection process, analysis, and reporting,” he explained.

Prof. Lee also discussed the urgency of collaboration in research that will sharpen research analysis. “We could employ the application of platforms like Linkedin, Researchgate, and Academia to publish our research draft (preprints) to generate suggestions from experts,” Prof. Lee added.

In the second session moderated by Dr. Muhibbudin Fadhli, M.Pd., Prof. Lee discussed the Quantitative Data Analysis and asked participants to have a hands-on and use Jamovi quantitative statistical data analysis. Humas UNS
