UNS –– Dr. Chafit Ulya, S.Pd., M.Pd. as a lecturer in the Indonesian Language Education Study Program (PBI) of the Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta is the figure behind the development of the Narasi Budaya platform. Dr. Chafit, who is also the coach at Narasi Budaya, hopes to make Narasi Budaya a journalistic laboratory in the PBI FKIP UNS Study Program.
The Beginning of the Presence of the Narasi Budaya Platform
Narasi Budaya is a product of the Language and Literature Workshop Course which Dr. Chafit handled. At that time, students were asked to form an online media-based business field whose goal was to become a forum for accommodating journalistic writing for novice writers.
“Then on its way after the lecture was over, the group that formed Narasi Budaya disbanded. They do not want to continue the project that has been prepared. Then I had the initiative to take over Narasi Budaya. Because I see Narasi Budaya as an online media platform that has considerable potential to be developed professionally,” Dr. Chafit said when contacted by the uns.ac.id team on Tuesday (2/5/2023).
Dr. Chafit added that the initial goal was to take over Narasi Budaya, because he wanted to make the platform a journalistic laboratory in the PBI FKIP UNS Study Program. It was also bringing together PBI FKIP UNS students who had an interest in journalism and editing to be directly involved in the world of journalism.
Hope from the Narasi Budaya Platform
Through Narasi Budaya, it was expected that it would provide an opportunity for PBI FKIP UNS Study Program students to have direct experience in developing an online media in the field of journalism.
“Then, it is hoped that Narasi Budaya can accommodate the writings of novice writers to help improve the personal branding of those who are pursuing a career in writing. As for the main thing, these novice writers came from PBI FKIP UNS students, especially the team who are members of the Narasi Budaya. Consequently the Narasi Budaya platform will become a place to accommodate written works from PBI FKIP UNS students, especially those from the Narasi Budaya Team,” Dr. Chafit said.
Furthermore Dr. Chafit hopes that in the future, Narasi Budaya can become an online media platform that is professionally managed. So that it can generate income for Study Program. Meanwhile, the income can also be used to support development programs for the PBI FKIP UNS Study Program.
“As for the more academic expectation, Narasi Budaya can become an online media platform that is recognized and has the trust of the wider community. So that many great writers can be born from Narasi Budaya and my hope is that Narasi Budaya can also be trusted as a place to accommodate the writings of many novice writers who want to seriously pursue writing,” Dr. Chafit explained.
Message from Dr. Chafit
Lastly, Dr. Chafit advised us to maximize this digital era. Because the digital era provided very tight competition by presenting competition not only between humans but also between humans with Artificial Intelligence (AI). Therefore, it takes an effort to improve self-quality, optimize self-potential by building personal branding. Each student must have characteristics that distinguish them from other students.
“Narasi Budaya is an example of a response to the phenomenon of facing the current digital era, in which Narasi Budaya seeks to become a medium to strengthen the personal branding of novice writers, especially novice writers from UNS students. The efforts taken by Narasi Budaya are providing a place to accommodate the writings of novice writers to strengthen their personal branding,” Dr. Chafit said.
Dr. Chafit also appealed to students to take advantage of available digital spaces to build personal branding because in the future personal branding will become a measuring tool to measure the quality, competence, and capacity of a student. Companies may no longer require diplomas or course grades.
Nevertheless they directly saw the works that have been produced by their prospective employees so that prospective workers who already have works will be more trusted by the company to accept them as employees. The Narasi Budaya platform is a medium for increasing student personal branding.
“There are still many digital spaces that can be used to produce works that can be accessed openly by the public. Thus, other people can judge the quality of a person from the works that have been produced which are found on search engines in digital spaces,” Dr. Chafit concluded. Humas UNS
