UNS — The Minister of Investment and Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Bahlil Lahadalia, once again delivered motivation to more than 10,000 new students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta during the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) 2023 event at the G.P.H. Haryo Mataram Auditorium on Tuesday (22/8/2023). The Minister of Investment encouraged students to have high aspirations in order to bring about real changes for the nation.

“The world has changed now, a lot of changes have occurred. If you come to UNS with the goal of just seeking a diploma and wanting to become an employee, it’s better to go back to your hometown now. Because I believe this campus is a place to seek comprehensive and quality education, not just a diploma. You must have big dreams!” Bahlil said.

Amidst delivering motivation to the students, Bahlil also took the opportunity to interact directly with several students. One student who had the chance to have a direct dialogue with him was Intan Listiana, a student of the D-3 Animal Husbandry study program at the School of Vocational Studies (SV) UNS. Intan said that she dreams of enhancing the brand value of her banana chip business.

“I want to enhance the brand value of my business so that I can compete with competitors and attract investors to boost my business. I have a banana chips business. I place it in souvenir centers. I want to help people who are looking for jobs with me, but because the business is still small, I can’t provide a decent salary yet,” Intan said.

The Minister of Investment praised this dream and provided business capital assistance to Intan to help her develop her business dream. Besides Intan, another fortunate student received assistance for living expenses during their studies. This support will be provided by companies facilitated by the Minister of Investment. This student is Adila Paramita Larasati, a student of the Administration Management study program UNS.

“Your scholarship will be covered by the Rector. I will cover your living expenses until you finish (your studies), I will find a company that will help you. Your task is to focus on your studies for now. I don’t want you to be like me in the past. When I was studying, I sold newspapers and did rough labor at the same time,” Bahlil said.

The presence of the Minister of Investment at the PKKMB UNS 2023 event was in response to invitations from various universities in Indonesia to motivate new students. Previously, the Minister of Investment had met with new students at Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) in Semarang, Universitas Indonesia (UI) and Universitas Brawijaya (UB).
