UNS — On Mother’s Day 22 December 2020, the Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho inaugurated organ officials under the Rector, academic functional officers, and certain functional officials at UNS. The inauguration and oath-taking ceremony was held offline and online in Meeting Room (Ruang Sidang) 4, dr. Prakosa Building UNS, Tuesday (22/12/2020).
The Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho stated that since 1976, UNS had implemented organizational transformation due to its new status as Public University with Legal Entity (PTN BH). The selection of nomenclature for the current positions and institutions are based on performance and functions. The structural approach should be replaced because it is no longer meet the demands and needs in the era of change and the future.
“In this inauguration and oath-taking ceremony, 164 academic functional officers are inaugurated. Forty-eight are junior faculty members (asisten ahli), 79 lecturers (lector), and 37 assistant professors (lektor kepala),” Prof. Jamal explained.
As for the functional educational position, 94 people were inaugurated in the ceremony. The government policy to reposition structural position into functional position is to simplify the bureaucracy and change the “authority” paradigm into the “service” paradigm. Likewise, UNS policy to form Coordinator and Sub-Coordinator in each Unit, followed by streamlining organizational structure mainly aims to build more effective and efficient administrative services.
“Coordinator and Sub-Coordinator are not a replacement for the omitted structural position, but they have a function to implement the coordination in planning, implementation and control, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting according to the scope of each duty and function. The migration process from “structural” to “functional” will be followed by the adaptation of competence and procedure for the employee,” Prof. Jamal explained.
Therefore, Prof. Jamal assigned the Vice-Rector for Management and Human Resource as a supervisor for employee affairs to prepare policy and program to address competency gaps due to the transformation from structural to functional position. Prof. Jamal hopes that the Vice-Rector will implement this duty well, meet success, and wish all new officers to work well in their new posts. “May Allah SWT always grace us with health and ease in implementing the services for community,” Prof. Jamal stated.
The officials inaugurated in the ceremony are Vice-Rector, Director, UNS Secretary, Dean and Vice Dean, and other functional officials. Humas UNS
