UNS – The Board of Trustees (Majelis Wali Amanat, or MWA) of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, assisted by the Rector Election Committee (PPR), has conducted face-to-face socialization for the implementation of the election of the UNS Rector for the 2024-2029 term. The event invited all eligible lecturers from all faculties and vocational schools on Friday (19/4/2024) at the G.P.H. Haryo Mataram Auditorium and was broadcast live on the Universitas Sebelas Maret YouTube channel.
This socialization is one of the stages of the rector election that must be carried out, after previously, on April 16, 2024, the MWA established Regulation Number 4 of 2024 regarding the Procedure for the Election of the Rector for the 2024-2029 period and Decision Number 6/UN27.MWA/HK.2024 concerning the Schedule for the Election of the Rector for the 2024-2029 period.
According to the Schedule for the Election of the Rector for the 2024-2029 period determined by the MWA, the implementation of socialization, in addition to face-to-face, also through announcements on the UNS website, print media, and/or electronic media, will be conducted within a period of 10 working days from April 17 to April 30, 2024.
In this socialization event, the Chairperson of the UNS MWA, Prof. Muliaman Darmansyah Hadad, Ph.D., delivered a speech. Subsequently, a presentation was made by Prof. Dr. Eng. Syamsul Hadi, S.T., M.T., as a member of the PPR and also the Secretary of the MWA. In this face-to-face socialization, an explanation about the rules and schedule for the implementation of the rector election was given to all participants. It was also explained that the requirements and conditions for prospective rector candidates can be found at the link uns.id/syaratcalonrektor. The event concluded with a question-answer session.
Next, the PPR will immediately carry out registration and administrative verification for 15 working days from May 2 to May 28, 2024, Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 15:00 WIB. “Prospective Rector Candidates must submit registration documents directly to the PPR at the UNS MWA Chairman’s Office located at Gedung dr. Prakosa UNS, Jalan Insinyur Sutami Number 36 A, Kentingan, Jebres, Surakarta – 57126,” Prof. Muliaman explained.
The UNS MWA will then determine the prospective rector candidates who have met the requirements and conditions on June 25, 2024. Some subsequent schedules include receiving input from the UNS campus community, which will be conducted from June 25, 2024, to July 2, 2024, and a public examination forum by panelists on July 2, 2024. On July 9, 2024, the UNS MWA will determine and announce the names of the rector candidates.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the UNS Rector Election Committee (PPR), Prof. Dr. Mohammad Jamin, S.H., M.Hum., added that the rector candidates will present their visions, missions, and work programs on July 18, 2024. The agenda will then continue with the election of the UNS Rector for the 2024-2029 period, which will be conducted by the UNS MWA in a plenary meeting on the same date. The appointment of the elected rector and the announcement of the results will be made immediately after the plenary meeting.
“The end of this series of activities will be the inauguration and oath-taking of the elected UNS Rector for the 2024-2029 period, which will take place on August 8, 2024,” Prof. Jamin said.
The UNS MWA hopes that all stages of the rector election process will be conducted in a conducive and smooth manner until the elected rector is inaugurated. HUMAS UNS
