UNS – The Board of Trustees (MWA, or Majelis Wali Amanat) of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta has issued the stages and schedule for the election of the UNS Rector for the 2024-2029 period. The registration and acceptance of documents from prospective candidates for UNS Rector will be open from May 2nd to May 28th, 2024. Prior to that, MWA UNS will conduct socialization regarding the election process, which will take place from April 17th to April 30th, 2024.
The Chairman of MWA UNS, Prof. Muliaman Darmansyah Hadad, Ph.D., stated that this process is based on the Regulation of MWA UNS Number 1 of 2024 concerning the Procedure for the Election of Rector. MWA UNS provides an opportunity for lecturers who meet the requirements to participate in the nomination of prospective candidates for the UNS Rector for the 2024-2029 period. “The requirements and conditions for prospective rector candidates can be found at the link uns.id/syaratcalonrektor,” Prof. Muliaman explained on Thursday (18/4/2024).
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Rector Election Committee (PPR) of UNS, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Jamin, S.H., M.Hum., added that prospective candidates for UNS Rector are expected to submit the required documents and complete administration documents directly to the Secretariat of MWA UNS located at Dr. Prakosa UNS Building on Jalan Insinyur Sutami Number 36 A, Kentingan, Jebres, Surakarta – 57126. The registration documents for prospective rector candidates will be accepted by PPR UNS on weekdays, Monday to Friday, from 09.00 to 15.00 WIB. “The submission of documents must be done no later than May 28, 2024,” Prof. Jamin said.
MWA UNS will then determine the number of prospective rector candidates who have been declared to meet the requirements and conditions on June 25, 2024. Some subsequent schedules include the receipt of input from the academic community of UNS and the Public Hearing Forum by the panelists. On July 9, 2024, MWA UNS will determine and announce the names of the rector candidates.
The rector candidates will present their visions, missions, and work programs on July 18, 2024. The agenda will then proceed with the election of the UNS Rector for the 2024-2029 period, which will be conducted by MWA UNS in a plenary meeting on the same date. The appointment of the elected rector and the announcement of the appointment results to the elected rector will be made immediately after the plenary meeting.
The culmination of this series of activities will be the inauguration and oath-taking ceremony of the elected UNS Rector for the term 2024-2029, scheduled for August 8, 2024. Humas UNS
