UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta will use three admission selection schemes for New Student Admissions (PMB) in 2022. The three schemes are the National Selection for State University Admission (SNMPTN), Joint Selection for State University Admission (SBMPTN), and Independent Admission (SM). Provisions regarding SNMPTN and SBMPTN are stipulated by the Institution of University Entrance Exams (LTMPT), while SM is regulated independently by UNS.

This announcement was conveyed during Dissemination on SNMPTN, SBMPTN, SM UNS 2022 hosted by the Technical Implementational Unit (UPT) for New Student Admissions Selection (SPMB) UNS, Thursday (13/1/2022).
High School (SMA), Vocational High School (SMK), and Madrasah Aliyah (MA), teachers, and students were attending this dissemination. The event started at 09.00 WIB, presenting three speakers: the Executive Director of LTMPT, Prof. Dr. Ir. Budi Prasetyo Widyobroto, DESS, DEA, IPU, ASEAN Eng., the Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS, Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, MS., and the Head of UPT SPMB UNS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Hadiwiyono, M.Sc., with a welcome remark from the UNS Rector, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, SH, M. Hum.

In his remarks, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, SH, M. Hum., expressed his gratitude to the attending teachers and students from numerous SMA, SMK, and MA, for participating in the SNMPTN, SBMPTN, SM UNS 2022 Information Dissemination.
“In 2022, we have three selection schemes, namely, the SNMPTN, SBMPTN, and SM,” explained Prof. Jamal.

Through this dissemination, Prof. Jamal wishes to provide information to teachers and students regarding the new students’ admission schemes available at UNS. “Hopefully, the 12th graders and those who graduated two years ago can participate in the entrance selections we have provided,” added Prof. Jamal.

The LTMPT Executive Director, Prof. Dr. Ir. Budi Prasetyo Widyobroto, DESS, DEA, IPU, ASEAN, Eng., said that only schools that follow the national curriculum are eligible to participate in the SNMPTN. The eligible school must submit students’ score data into the PDSS. LTMPT will retrieve this data without making any amendments or transformations to the data.

Regarding the Computer-Based Written Examination (UTBK), the 2022 written test section will follow a similar procedure to the previous year. However, there are differences in the material section. The exam material in 2022 will include an additional English exam that has separated scoring. “Thus, compared to last year, there will be additional English tests, yet there is no English test last year,” said Prof. Budi.

Aside from SNMPTN and SBMPTN, the Head of UPT SPMB UNS Prof. Dr. Ir. Hadiwiyono, M.Sc., also explains various Independent Admission (SM) schemes available for undergraduate and diploma programs. Interested students can access information related to SM through the spmb.uns.ac.id page. There are 7 (seven) SM schemes for undergraduate level admission: the UTBK, the Written Exam Admission Test (SMJU), Admission Selection for Disability (SMJD), the Special Achievement Admission Selection (SMJP), the Admission Selection for Partnership Program (SMJK), the Admission Selection for Young Leadership (SMJKM), and International Class Admission Selection (SMJI).

Meanwhile, there are 6 (six) SM schemes for the diploma program. The six selection schemes are the UTBK, the Written Exam Admission Test for Diploma Program (SMDJU), Diploma Program Admission Selection for Disability (SMDJD Special Achievement Admission Selection for Diploma Program (SMDJP), Diploma Program Admission Selection for Partnership Program (SMDJK), and the Admission Selection for Young Leadership (SMDJKM).

Prof. Hadiwiyono further explained the description of the acceptance rate of each UNS admission scheme in 2021. In 2021, 28,858 students participated in the SNMPTN UNS, with only 1,443 students being accepted. This fact shows that the acceptance rate in UNS SNMPTN last year reached 5%. For the SBMPTN selection, there were 47,420 participants for UNS, with a total of 2,628 students accepted. This data shows that the acceptance rate of the UNS SBMPTN 2021 reached 5.52%. Meanwhile, in SM, there were 98,603 applicants, with only 5,236 students admitted, resulting in a 5.31% acceptance rate for the UNS SM in 2021.

“Therefore, in total, there are 175,081 people who are interested in getting enrolled in UNS. Meanwhile, only 9,307 people were selected, or only 5.32 percent were enrolled,” said Prof. Hadiwiyono.

Meanwhile, UNS Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, MS, on this occasion, also conveyed that UNS’s reputation is growing brighter from year to year. Some of UNS achievements are listed as the best university in National cluster 1, accredited with ‘A’ predicate, established as Legal Entity State University (PTNBH), QS Asian University Rankings (QS AUR) #401-450, ranked 79th in the world, and 7th nationally according to the UI Green Metric World University Rankings.
