UNS — The Introduction to Campus Life for New Students Program (PKKMB) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta is over. This year PKKMB had many events, including the introduction of the organization and excellent students. After the university-level campus introduction was over, the event was followed by a faculty and program-level introduction.
Even though the program was entirely held online, a Faculty of Medical Science (FK) student, Innocentia Angelina De Vipyta, said that she is happy to participate in PKKMB UNS this year. She said that the master of ceremony and the moderators were very communicative, and the sessions were helpful for new students. “So that I could know how UNS and the existing learning system. Besides that, I also learn complete information from the reliable speakers,” Angelina said on Monday (16/8/2021).
The student from Yogyakarta added that she was impressed when the committee brought her to explore Solo and UNS virtually. “I was impressed when (they) took me to explore Solo and showed the facilities in UNS. Moreover, I live in Jogja, so I could not wait to go to Solo and participate in offline learning. I was also impressed with the Merdeka Belajar session because students have the right to choose material outside their program,” she explained.
Angelina hoped that the pandemic would end soon so that she could participate in the offline session. She is also interested in joining several student associations (UKM), such as Medical Education Student Association (HMPD) and Voca Erudita. She also hoped that she could be a good student who has a noble character with her plans. “Could respect other people, like my friends in the university, senior, teachers, and other academic members,” she added.
A similar message was delivered by Dito Nurbiat Moko, Indonesia Language and Literature Program Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB) student. He stated that online PKKMB could improve knowledge using meeting applications, such as Zoom Cloud Meeting, Google Meet, and Google Form. He added that there was a struggle with group members who do not know each other but was required to work together. “To always be on time in everything, this is how we could expand our circle and knowledge on other people. I am proud to be a part of PKKMB UNS,” he added.
Besides the impressions from the program, Dito also has several suggestions for the program. For example, the theme used in the assignment could be taken from the current issues in society. “Thus, students could share their aspiration and critical thinking on the current issues,” he said.
Even though this year PKKMB was held online, but it left positive impressions on new students. After the PKKMB, the learning process will start on 23 August 2021. Humas UNS
