UNS – The Official Launch of the Bengawan Team of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta in 2023 exhibited two student-made vehicles. This event also marked the formation of the new Bengawan Team UNS 2023 management. The two vehicles were a formula car named Pancawala II and a prototype called Nirangkara. The introduction of the vehicles made by UNS students took place in the courtyard of dr. Prakosa UNS building, Friday (9/6/2023).

This event was also attended by the Assistant for Government and People’s Welfare of the City of Surakarta, Drs. Tamso; the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus., M.S.; the Vice Rector for Research and Innovation UNS, Prof. Dr. Kuncoro Diharjo, S.T., M.T.; and the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, Business, and Information UNS, Prof. Irwan Trinugroho, M.Sc., Ph.D.

Prof. Yunus as the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS in his speech that he was proud of every achievement of the Bengawan Team UNS. He said the university would always support activities to achieve achievements for the campus and students. Besides that, Prof. Yunus reminded us that every activity carried out could become research material in the development of the latest science.

 “The history of the development of the Bengawan Team is very encouraging. It has participated in several international championships abroad. The last in Florida, the United States won several gold medals. This makes us very proud,” Prof. Yunus said.

The assistant for Government and People’s Welfare of Surakarta City, Drs. Tamso, representing the Mayor of Surakarta, supports Bengawan Team UNS as a forum for student self-development.

 “Through the Bengawan Team UNS, students can hone their skills and do research on how to design and make prototypes. The younger generation needs to be supported, invited to cooperate industry players to cooperate, and appear in competitions,” Drs. Tamso said.

Bengawan Formula Student Team UNS is a Student Activity Unit (UKM) that focuses on manufacturing research and formula car development. Their design work had been contested on the international stage. The Bengawan Formula UNS Student Team consists of multi-faculty students at UNS.

This year they will compete in Japan organized by the Japan Society of Automotive Engineers (JSAE) which is part of the Society of Automotive Engineers International. General Manager of Bengawan Formula Student UNS, Tegar Aryoseno, hopes to give the best results in this championship.
