UNS — Being an ambassador means representing an institution that oversees it. In addition, an ambassador must be capably to carry out the obligations that have been previously mandated. An ambassador is also the face of an institution they represent. Farah Primanita, a student of the Management Study Program (Prodi) at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, was named the Indonesian Rupiah and Quick Response Code Indonesia Standard (QRIS) Ambassador by the Central Bank of the Republic of Indonesia (BI).

Her initial involvement in Rupiah and QRIS Ambassadors selection started when Farah, as a recipient of the New Generation Indonesia (GenBI) scholarship, participated in the selection of Rupiah and QRIS Ambassadors organized by Bank Indonesia (BI) last year. After being declared the first winner, Farah had several duties to carry out from BI. The woman born on October 19, 1999, is obliged to spread knowledge related to Rupiah and QRIS.

“The Rupiah ambassador is obliged to maintain the mindset and behavior and to maintain what is mandated by BI because we carry out duties in the name BI. We have to know anything related to Rupiah and QRIS, and of course, the most important task is to bring benefits to the community in terms of knowledge and in terms of awareness about Rupiah and QRIS,” said Farah to the uns.ac.id team on Wednesday (8/12 /2021).

During her time as Rupiah and QRIS ambassador, Farah admitted that she had to constantly learn about Rupiah and QRIS. She often gets questions about QRIS and Rupiah from his friends. Thanks to the knowledge she gained, she managed to answer these questions. However, there was a time when she had yet to understand the answers to a certain question. Despite this condition, Farah insisted on studying again or discussing with BI to provide satisfactory answers instead of random general answers.

When recounting her stories to the uns.ac.id team, Farah also reminisced about the times when she went through the Rupiah and QRIS Ambassadors selection process. At that time, the pandemic was spreading. The selection of Rupiah Ambassadors, which was originally held on March 8, 2020, was postponed to November 24, 2020. However, Farah admitted that she was still enthusiastic and trying her best.

Farah also has to adapt to circumstances that require her to be highlighted by the camera. For her, it is better to meet thousands of people directly instead of being highlighted by a camera because through a camera, no matter how small it is, it can be recorded clearly. Moreover, Farah also reminisced about an interesting event during the election period. She was once called “Kang Ronde” by a catwalk coach from the Surakarta Hadiningrat Kasunanan Palace because of her stiff gait. Farah was not too bothered by the joking chatter. In fact, the catwalk coach was surprised when he found out that Farah had won the first prize for Duta Rupiah and QRIS. This proves Farah’s sincerity in competing and continuously improving herself. She chuckled a little when telling the story.

Long before participating in the Rupiah and QRIS Ambassador selection, Farah had been instilled with a mindset to love the Rupiah because she was also a recipient of the GenBI scholarship.

“Personally, I always have the mindset to love Rupiah in a positive way. We are taught to love Rupiah in a physical way like we use a straight wallet to keep the money safe, not the stuffy one. At the beginning of GenBI, we were instilled in the love of Rupiah, spread out about Rupiah in a positive way, not only in physical stuff but in unphysical stuff or intangible stuff, also about the Rupiah mindset or investment,” said Farah.

The value that she follow until today is to give benefit to others. In this case, Farah wants to always be useful in terms of educating the public and her friends about Rupiah and QRIS. She also creates content about Rupiah education and QRIS through her Instagram account at @farahprimanitaa. As the Ambassador of Rupiah and QRIS, the title requires her to maintain the good name of BI.

“I think if, for example, we earned a title, the hardest thing to maintain is the title. Say Rupiah Ambassador is one region is only one and the organizer is BI; hence we must uphold BI’s good name in the community,” explained Farah.

Farah wants herself to be seen as a center for Rupiah and QRIS information by the public.

“I need to carry out my mandate well. For instance, if I am invited to travel around Indonesia or Solo, I can maintain the good name of BI and spread knowledge in the community. I hope they see me as a source of information. If I do not know (about certain information), I will try to find out first, from there my friends and the public will know and understand that if I can answer, I will answer, but if I cannot answer, I will find out first,” explained Farah.

In the event of accomplishing an achievement, Farah advises to stay confident and be a positive person. “Just believe in yourself, just be what you are, stay humble, stay positive, and stay low profile,” said Farah. Humas UNS
