UNS – For a second time, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta was visited by ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN QA) Assessors team. The AUN QA team appreciated UNS, especially to the four study programs (departments) that have been visited for three days on June 24-26, 2019.

This was revealed by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus in dr. Prakosa Building UNS.

Based on the visitation, Prof. Yunus was optimistic the four departments that have been visited would be AUN QA certified soon. 

“It is the second time for UNS accepting international recognition from an ASEAN accreditation institution that UNS will be equal to compete with departments in the advanced universities in the level of ASEAN,” explained Prof. Yunus, (06/26/2019).

Prof. Yunus congratulated the four undergraduate programs of Development Economics (FEB), Law Science, Special Education (FKIP), and Agribusiness (FP) which had passed several activities in the framework of AUN QA Visitation, especially for the Faculty of Economics and Business that have coordinated the event.

This is the twice UNS visiting for AUN QA team after last year in 2018, the four other undergraduate departments of Management (FEB), Mechanical Engineering (FT), Civil Engineering (FT), and Biology (FMIPA) were visited then achieved AUN QA certification.

The arrival of the Assessors Team (06/24/2019) was welcomed by UNS Rector, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum and all the boards of Chancellors, Deans, and the Self-Assessment Report (SAR) team from the four departments. It was accompanied by Tari Gambyong (a traditional Javanese dance to welcome honored guests). After the opening in the day-1, the Assessors visited some facilities in UNS, such as the library, International Office, Taiwan Center, UNS Museum, UNS Medical Center, UNS Business Development Center, and UNS Hospital, by a campus bus.

After that, the visitation focused more at the FEB UNS. The assessments were conducted by two assessors for each Department. They were Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin and Prof. Dr. Aleth Therese L. Dacanay as the assessors for the Development Economics Department, Prof. Dr. Suzeini Binti Abd Halim and Mrs. Siriluck Kiewkong as the assessors for the Law Science Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Komulwan Lueprasert and Prof. Dr. Irfan Naufal Umar as the assessors for the Special Education Department, then Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amalina M. Afifi and Asst. Prof. Dr. Thasaneeya Ratanaroutai Nopparatjamjomras as the assessors for the Agribusiness Department. This team was accompanied by Korn Ratagosoom, AUN QA Secretary.

The audiences were conducted successively with the Assessors, faculty leaders, SAR team, teachers, staffs, students, and graduate users. Then, the team held field surveys.

In the FEB UNS, the rooms visited by the Assessors were Student Organizations, Internship Room and Career Development Center, Computer Laboratory, Bank Simulation Laboratory, Export and Import Laboratory, Learning Service Center, Infestation Gallery, and Lecturers’ Transit Room.

One of the Assessors, Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin was impressed by the assessing process in UNS.

“At first when we arrived at the airport and the assessing venue, we were greeted with welcoming dance and the assessing process, documents, and the logistics were arranged well and efficiently,” said Johnson.

Furthermore, he said this campus was green and he liked the environment which had a lot of trees and flowers.

“We also find the unique of this campus, the inclusion of the religious buildings like the mosque, the temples, and the church,” he added. Humas UNS/Try
