UNS — An exciting news comes from Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta since the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities 2022 places UNS as the 6th best university in Indonesia and 1,144th in the world. This excellent news is revealed following the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities update, Friday (4/2/2022). For the record, the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities is a ranking carried out by the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group under the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) as the largest public research institution in Spain.

There are three indicators implemented in Webometrics to assess the quality of each university, namely visibility (impact) with 50 percent of weight, transparency (openness) with 10 percent weight, and excellence (scholar) with 40 percent of weight. Based on these provisions, UNS is ranked 487th globally in terms of impact rank, 1,028th globally for openness, and 2,507th globally for excellence, on these three indicators assessment.

Based on the results of the Webometrics ranking in early 2022, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, said he was grateful because UNS included as top-ranking universities in Indonesia. Specifically, Prof. Jamal expressed gratitude to all parties contributing to UNS 2022 Webometrics ranking improvement.

“We’re ranked 6th. We should be grateful for this together. Then continue the hard work. To improve and maintain our reputation at the international level,” said Prof. Jamal, Friday (4/2/2022).

Outstanding, UNS is Ranked Sixth on the 2022 National Webometrics Ranking

Prof. Jamal also encouraged the Director of Partnership, Development, and Internationalization of UNS, Prof. Irwan Trinugroho, Ph.D., to boost the assessment points by considering various areas of improvement and observing the dynamics at the international level. “Not only Webometrics but also other rankings, such as the 4ICU and Asian University Rankings, must also be improved,” continued Prof. Jamal.

With the results of this Webometrics ranking, Prof. Jamal said that UNS could map out its best capabilities in terms of academic achievements, capabilities, and reputation.

Although different rating agencies will also assess UNS in the future, he admits that he is not worried. He believes that UNS can fulfill the criteria set by each rating agency. Humas UNS
