UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta students in the association of Pertamina Foundation Scholarship Awardee held an environmental action by planting various types of trees and conducted socialization on environmental protection to the elementary school (SD) Warga students in Surakarta.
This event raises the theme of “Sobat Bumi Back to School” (Earth Fellows Back to School) that shares the mission of environmental protection and character-building, especially for elementary school children in their growth phase. Ten UNS students participated in this program were Hanun, Anisya, Oni, Ragil, Aji, Rizal, Zufar, Gestina, Aurel, and Mira.
Hanun as the chairwoman of the managing committee, stated that the event could teach many things to the Pertamina Foundation Scholarship Awardee in UNS.
“Sobat Bumi Back to School is an event that taught many things to the Pertamina Foundation Scholarship Awardees. We are closer to the children, training in public speaking, and enriching our knowledge on environmental issues. We hope this event could benefit SD Warga students to become the next generation that protects earth sustainability,” Hanun stated to the uns.ac.id team on Monday (6/12/2021).
The event was held on Friday-Saturday (26-27/11/2021) with several activities that involved SD Warga students.
“The activities were exciting and attracted SD Warga students to come to school, from education on eco-lifestyle, practice of plants planting, and practice for recycling,” Hanun explained.
Hanun believed that awareness could be developed in SD students if inculcated from an early age.
“This is an opportunity for Pertamina Foundation scholarship awardee to continue present in the events that build and shape children’s awareness on their environment,” Hanun concluded. Humas UNS
